I do love this place but am deeply frustrated and disappointed because yesterday I’d arranged to pay for a family members’ wedding dinner. I called ahead to set it up, and was told that the host would call me back. No call. After waiting, I called back and was told I’d have to wait again for a return call. Great restaurant with a nice intimate atmosphere.
We had the French onion soup (phenomenal, well done French onion soup) with filet and 6 layer chocolate cake for dessert. Normally we aren't the dessert type but everything else was so good we had to give it a try. The beet salad had a good beet to salad ratio, not overly heavy on the beets but not short on them either. Very fresh.
The historical aspect of the entire site is cool too,...

4 Dogs and Marshallton Inn are owned by the same owners and on the same property, across the parking lot from each other.
4 Dogs is casual. Marshallton Inn is fine dining, totally different atmosphere.
Same chef, David, but not the same.
Both are a great experiences and delicious food.
