Really enjoyed the experience. Wonderful service and large amount of space between tables. The birria was to die for.

Tonight my wife and I joined some friends for dinner at Plaza Azteca. We had never been to this restaurant before tonight, and I’m so glad we made it down to White Oak for this!
Upon arrival (5:30PM Saturday) we were taken to a table near the bar, which was nicely lit and had a big city bar ambiance. It actually ended up being nice to be seated here, because most of the server foot traffic didn’t come past our table, so it was a quieter table.
We ordered drinks shortly after sitting down and they came a few minutes later. My wife, myself, and one of our friends all had margaritas and they were well mixed and tasted great! Our 4th ordered a large Modelo on tap (which turned out to be a liter) and he enjoyed that as well.
We ordered our dinners a couple minutes after receiving our drinks. I remember my wife got steak fajitas and I got a Ruleta Steak Burrito. I kid you not, from the time we ordered our food to the time we received it was under 10 minutes. It felt like it was 5 minutes, and was so fast that I was actually shocked. And the food was piping hot!
My burrito was phenomenal, my wife did comment that she thought it was a little spicy. The burrito was filled with steak, onions, rice, and beans, and It was topped with cheese sauce, enchilada sauce, crema, and Pico de Gallo. I loved every bite! My wife ordered the Texas Fajitas, which were steak and shrimp cooked with peppers and onions and served on a sizzling skillet, accompanied by tortillas, rice, beans, sour cream, and Pico de Gallo. Her dish was much larger than mine and she couldn’t quite finish all of it, so the portion size is pretty big!
For dessert, we all split a fried ice cream, and I thought the ice cream was great, but personally not a fan of the corn flake coating, though the rest of the table enjoyed.
Altogether the entire experience was excellent! The food is some of the best Mexican I have eaten in a long time, and the drinks were on point, too. The service was top notch until we hit the end of the night, when we did unfortunately wait a very long time to get our checks, though the company was good, so we didn’t mind too much, but it did keep us in the restaurant a good 30 minutes longer than we intended to be.
Altogether, I enjoyed, would recommend, and plan to go back soon!
For dessert, we ordered the fried ice cream
Parking: I didn’t count how many, but there were easily 80–100 spots available, with more overflow into business next door that were not open late.

we’ve been ordering here for years, the past few times we’ve ordered, the food has been so disappointing. little to no flavor and the food is almost never hot.
Parking: parking lot can be kind of dangerous, narrow lanes that can only fit one car.

Our granddaughter recommended Plaza Azteca. From start to finish we had great meals. The soft and hard tacos and all our food was delicious with excellent service.

Can't believe I haven't reviewed this yet. This is our go to place for Mexican. Food always fast and tasty. Love the decor especially the skull light features. Can be hard to communicate with the servers. This is the only drawback.

Great Mexican food! Place has a great vibe, food is very good, however, service can really be hit/miss. The majority of the staff can speak very limited English (I ordered a cocktail, asking for Woodford Reserve, he brought back a bottle of Jack Daniels, asking me if this was it???). Any deviations from the menu is a crap shoot...service staff just look at you and nod yes...and bring you whatever. Have been there multiple times as the food quality brings you back, but the service takes away from the experience.
