In 2018-2019 I would travel quite often on I-80 and would stop at GIO’s for a hot meal and I’ve finally been able to get back in the area to eat from their establishment and it’s still good even till this day great job on keeping up with the times and not losing food quality taste and service
Delicious food and pleasant service
I walked in and ordered a cowboy burger. I proceeded to pay, and the lady stated after for future reference they don’t accept cash app. I have used cash app as my main bank for 3 years, haven’t had a single problem. After ordering my food, I went to grab a drink at the convenience side of this gas station.
I have not once had a gas station tell me they also don’t accept cash app, so I asked the older lady if they accepted cash app. (It’s tied to my Apple Pay and requires me to transfer money out to a different bank), so it’s a bit of an inconvenience for me.)
She proceeded to say, and I quote, “Oh my god, you used cash app at *owners name* restaurant! It’s posted everywhere, you’re not supposed to do that. She proceeded to verify with staff at the restaurant asking if I committed this “sin”, ignoring the fact I’m in line with people behind me trying to buy a damn Celsius. Then she told me of course we don’t, didn’t you see the signs? (They are posted on the entry door, handwritten, easy to go unnoticed.) All this was said with a rude tone, acting as if I ruined the poor business by paying for my meal.
Overall food was good, but customer experience is a way to lose somebody quick. I would not eat here again due to the negative experience I had. To reiterate, the restaurant wasn’t rude like this, it was the lady at the convenience side of this gas station. Probably family which is one of many issues in a workplace. This also happened a couple months ago, I just remembered the experience and wanted to report on it.
Get the brisket platter
(Updated May 2025) Disappointed that menu online doesn't reflect what is offered, particularly as it lists Smokehouse Platter with 1/2 rack of ribs, but it only comes with a 1/3. Those couple ribs make a difference when sharing or planning on leftovers. Food was still good.
Family always makes it a point to stop here when in the neighborhood. Great BBQ at a good price.
Well, one nice thing - you can get BBQ at 10:30 in the morning there, maybe earlier. And they have good cornbread and a salad or vegetables for sides - not just fried sides. Our pulled pork was luke warm and everything was pretty sweet - salad dressing, pork, potato and macaroni salad. Not bad but not outstanding.
I used to stop in all the time as I would come through on my way to North Carolina but I haven’t been through in years till just recently the food is still good I came in 20 minutes from closing and they were super friendly the Mac n cheese wasn’t so great as it used to be but I think that’s due to it being closing time I’d still want to try it fresh well worth the stop the brisket and pulled pork are to die for
Just stopped here for a quick lunch was really craving barbecue and stood there for like 5 minutes. No one acknowledge me the cooks just looked at me and the girl taking the order looked like she was coming to me and stops and starts eating. I was like wow! not sure if it’s a Mexican thing but never again!
Dude... Yeah I went in there and tried to pump gas... And then it the numbers didn't go up and it didn't work... And then when I went in there the Manager told me that there was an electrical glitch in the system and it wasn't taking credit cards... But when I came back I found out that my gas tank was filled up and they didn't even give me a discount because I pumped more gas than I wanted.
Love this place stop by here every chance I get when passing through.

I was very excited to try this spot. Other truck drivers say it's good. I still don't know. After waiting 35 minutes for a pulled pork plate I had to go. It still wasn't ready. I quietly asked the cashier to donate it to someone because I had to leave. To be clear it appears everyone was waiting this long, except for a couple dine in orders that got called up very quickly. It's obvious when they go out of order due to the numbers. Anyway, disappointed and I'll be making noodles in the truck.
Love their half BBQ kitchen
Great BBQ. Generous portions at reasonable prices. We split a brisket sandwich and got the Big Daddy Platter to go - added a salad fo that platter and it became dinner for 4 people! Add a little hot sauce to the bbq sauce if you like it spicy - sauce is tasty and on the sweet side. BBQ baked beans are very tasty. Haluki - kluski noodles with cabbage and sausage was interesting local specialty. Definitely worth a stop!
Baked beans was one of the best I’ve had in my life.
This is a great BBQ place to stop especially if you’re a truck driver. I ordered the brisket sandwich with fried and coleslaw. The food was very very good and wasn’t bad price wise either. The only thing non food related concern I have is pulling into this place at night with a truck. There is very poor lighting and parking can be tight for a truck driver. The parking lot is dirt/gravel and there are some potholes. Will be stopping back in the future.
