I love this place. Great food, quick and easy for pick up. We’re from California originally and eat Mexican all the time, and this is the best for burritos around this area. Nachos are excellent as well.

Friendly cashier named Rene—I hope I’m spelling it right. One day I had to walk in with my small dog on a hot day to pick up my order and they were nice about it. They loved her. This last visit he said bring her back next time, which is so nice. Some places are not dog friendly, which I understand. Love their Birria tacos! $16 for 3 plus the consommé. Well spent and that is the average price I’ve gotten them for in another state, so I’m ok with it. 5/5

Bad sanitary practices. A worker came in from the outside, licked his fingers to go through some receipts, then grabbed a hand of lettuce to make a salad. No washing of hands before coming in contact with food. Btw, tongs don't cost much...they grab all food with their hands, which increases the exposure of germs and bacteria, especially since they don't wash their hands. Will never go there again.

Don't waste your time...I think the owners are not too concerned about cleanliness and the atmosphere...feels like your ordering from an abandoned truck.

Terrible food, worse customer service.
Gave us someone else's order and was completely unapologetic when we called about it.
Maybe dude wouldn't have mixed things up if he would get off the phone!
Super yummy!

Been eager to give this spot a try for years now, finally stopped by today, walked in I wasn’t greeted & the employee looked at me twice. Sucks but I won’t be back.

LOVE the food!! It is a one man show, but my man knows his meats, MMMM!! Got the chik tinga tacos ? and the fish tacos, both slammin'!! Downsides, its small, only a few tables, and did not see a public restroom, (but Im sure there is one in back and the guy is very nice, you could probably use it). There isn't much parking to speak of, but we made do, and glad we did, food was worth it!!
Also, to note, there is a covered outside eating area w more tables, and I believe pupper friendly (but would still ask first!).
We will def return to try some other authentic cuisine!

Atmosphere: .5/1: This is your typical hole in the wall restaurant. Small with minimal decorations and a small bathroom in the back.
: welcoming, friendly and fast.
Price: .5/1: the appeal of a hole in the wall is great food at a cheap price. Hence, I think $12 for 3 tacos without any sides is expensive. The guac and chip is $12 also…
: The al pastor tacos were made on the spot and were delicious, even without the typically added pineapple. Plenty of meat. Spicy sauce on the side. They make their own chips and guac.
Overall 4/5: El Jefe sells good tacos but kinda pricey for a hole in the wall.
Just moved up north from south philly and this is one of the only mexican spots in this area that actually makes good tacos. Ive only tried it a couple times but so far havent been disappointed. Being mexican i miss all the mexican food that was readily available in south philly im just glad i found me a new fave taco spot near my house now.

This taco salad !!!!! Amazing. I’ve dined in and taken out. Quaint outdoor dining area ideal on a nice day. The restaurant is small about 1-2 tables to sit at inside. Very fresh everything is made to order
Parking: Free convenient street parking in front of the restaurant
