I’ve given this place multiple chances, genuinely hoping for a better experience each time. The establishment itself is absolutely beautiful—cozy, warm, and inviting. Unfortunately, I’ve found hair in my food on three separate visits. To make matters worse, a friend I brought here for her birthday also found not one, but two hairs in her dish. I did report the issue to the staff each time, but sadly, the problem has persisted. It’s really disappointing, especially given how lovely the space is. I hope this feedback helps improve the kitchen practices, because the ambiance truly deserves better.

I’ve always admired the philodendrons and monsteras this shop has, they’re beautiful! However today the girl making the orders today, her attitude was not so much. And honestly I think she just was being rude. I showed up to pickup a DoorDash order that was visibly ready to go at the counter. The barista at the cash register clearly was busy handling customer orders waiting to order. I figured to make it easier, let me just quick ask the barista behind the counter right by the DoorDash shelf, to possibly grab my customers order which I saw was ready. She just quickly responded “no because the order has to be checked to be sure everything is in the bag”. Okay number one, if that’s the case, then don’t lie on DoorDash citing order is ready for pickup. Number two, guess what didn’t happen when the cash register barista had to step away from register to grab my order? A bag check. Nothing was checked, so the barista behind the counter is a liar and needs to have better service. Hope next time is a better experience cause the shop overall gives a good vibe.

Prince Street Cafe has been a favorite spot of my sister for as long as she has been a York transplant from Maryland. Her veganism and gluten sensitivity make places like this special - the food is as delicious as it is safe for her, AND they have dishes the rest of our family enjoys with the rest of our various dietary needs.
Only outshining their food is their service. I made a significant mistake when ordering online the day before the aforementioned sister's birthday party, and the staff and manager went way out of their way to make things right. They absolutely did not need to raise to the level of hospitality that they did -- their generosity saved the day!

It’s cozy, it’s cute, but a top tier coffee shop it’s not.

Prince Street Cafe does stand out in an area that’s lacking in good-looking cafes, that’s for sure. It’s not terribly fancy, but it photographs well, and it’s clean and uncluttered.

The coffee is mediocre. The owner spent all their barista tokens on a superautomatic machine that does everything with the single push of a button. There’s no skill involved, and no reason to hire anyone who knows anything about coffee. It works, sure, but it’s lazy, and immediately makes me think that there’s laziness happening elsewhere behind the scenes.

My cold brew coffee tasted like an americano that’s been in the fridge for a day or two. Definitely didn’t taste fresh. I’m not sure if they know how to make a proper cold brew, to be honest, because that wasn’t it. The açaí bowl was pretty decent, but on the smaller side, and not worth the $13 I paid, in my opinion.

That being said, our server was kind and as helpful as she was trained to be. Zero complaints there. I just feel bad that she doesn’t get to learn how to make proper coffee on a proper espresso machine.

The Americano was great and so was the blueberry lavender scone. Though I wish they had some savory stuff ready to go, like a scone.

Antisemitic Staff...

Do not come here if you're Jewish and don't want to have to endure discrimination under the guise of false-progressivism of the employees.

I "look Jewish", and I am, and the staff gave every indication that they're not alright with this, and glared at me every few seconds until I finally left.

I had business in York today and had to go somewhere twice during the day, and both times the staff glared at me, the moment I walked in. I was neatly dressed, mild mannered, polite, quiet, respectful, minding my own business.
From the moment I walked in having never stepped in before glaring at me like a second class citizen giving me every non-verbal communication they did not want me there.

I reluctantly returned in the afternoon because I have a digestive gastrointestinal disorder, and needed a kombucha. And, without fail, the glares got worse from the employees.
The first time they subjected me to their hate, I intuitively knew why.
But, the second time, they made it clear.
There was a Muslim woman in the shop, who got up to get something, and she turned and glared at me, and then every single one of the staff from that point on all glared at me with increasing intensity of hate and discrimination.
Mind you the only words I said the whole time I was there was politely asking for my drink and thank you.
Outright racial discrimination and antisemitism, without any regard for me all so they can build up their vain and ephemeral cultural capital identity. Talk about a hypocritical double standard...

If there's anything self-exalting would-be faux-leftists like to do is to attack others in strawman/ad hominem manner to build a sense of superiority. I just wanted a cold drink and to get out of the heat while I waited for appointments, and I have to deal with this!

The staff and their general ideological disposition is one of outright antisemitic propaganda and hatred towards Jews.

If you are Jewish and especially if you "look Jewish" do not come to this shop.

I will report this business to the ADL and other organizations that monitor antisemitic businesses.

This business is officially being monitored and watched by numerous antisemitism awareness organizations from this moment on.

The really sad reality with how quickly and eagerly people who have no connection to Jews or Israel that know nothing about us or Israel, but have seemingly overnight embraced a one-sided misinformation narrative about us. Well, it's sadly just a continuation and rebranding of the same generational hatred, only rebranded as some cheap knock off version of progressive liberalism. And, for what? To bolster one's personal cultural capital?

Always enjoy stopping in here when driving or biking through York. One of the most beautiful cafes I've ever been in.
