Went a few times to the 1888 pub in the past and it was pretty decent. Stopped in yesterday for some takeout and it was the worst meal I think I've ever eaten.

Service was very slow. The place was dead and it took about 45 minutes for 2 orders of burger/fries and a child size fish and chips. Took our food to go and opened it up a few minutes away in a park.

The fries were handcut, but were cooked very poorly. Extremely limp, half cooked. The burger patty was tasteless. The lettuce was very brown. My husbands tomato slice was the end of the tomato. As for condiments it stated "bacon jam" which was non-existent. And seemed to be some chopped jalapeños in mustard maybe? Over all, awful. My daughters fish was pale and soggy, greasy and doughy. And no tartar sauce. Garnished with an old, brownish lime wedge.

We were excited for supper and we all felt incredibly disappointed. We will never go back. 1/10

My wife Jen and I were going out for dinner and stumbled on 1888 Pub. We throughly enjoyed our meals, mine was the Captain's Platter and Jen's was the Herb roasted chicken with veggies. Both meals exceeded our expectations. Our server Jennifer was very attentive and very pleasant. An awesome experience!

Simple food greatly executed. Serene views from the deck. Super friendly staff.

Five of us made a spur of the moment decision to go to The 1888 Pub for supper Sunday night and it was amazing. We started out with Mussels & Chicken Wings as Appetizers . Both were cooked to perfection and so yummy. We then had five different Entrees all of which were totally delicious. The portions of each Entrée were so plentiful that we just couldn't eat any more. Next time we will omit the Appetizers & save room for the Desserts that all sounded so delicious. The service was phenomenal, so knowledgeable & friendly. Your lower deck looks so inviting with a beautiful view of the marina. The evening was cool & we weren't properly dressed for the cool breeze but that was ok we enjoyed the decor of the pub. Thanks Jock for taking time out to chat with us as well. Will we return? You are darn right we will & will be recommending your intriguing Pub to others.

We had been on "The Island" for over a week and had not had a full lobster dinner. So off to Cardigan we went as it was near to where we were staying. Well we were greated by a man with a ripped and stained teeshirt. I thought he was a kitchen hand we later found out he was the owner! The restaurant is in huge need of modernization very old and tired. The price point was okay with 2 choices of a 3 or 5 course dinner. The chowder was so so, the salad wad way too cold with bland dressings. The local muscles were VERY GOOD, and so was the lobster. The lady on the next table sent 2 back as they were not cooked properly. Desert was a choice of a brownie or pound cake both of which were very mundane. Cocktails were not good definitely not city standard. The wait staff were very friendly and apologized several times for the wait. They said they were unexpectedly busy! WHAT IT'S AUGUST!!!! Anyway skip this one and go to New Glasgow as we should hAve done.

Quaint lobster "roadhouse" We four all had the lobster dinner. (Chowder, salad, muscles. 11/4lb lobster, desert- at a very fair price. Very good but not quite great Service was friendly and competent.

Opentable Diner

I had the steak and it was good - though i think a salad should have come with it for the 28 dollar price tag - my wife had the lobster and she thought it was a little rubbery - but not being a lobster eating person i could not tell you about that. there should be music on the patio - didn't have a sound system out there - was a cool night as well so patio heaters could help - but being a man i sucked it up lol - all in all good food and good service - a little over priced in my mind.
