NEW OWNERSHIP - we will never go back!! Absolute RIPOFF!! My wife and I have been regular customers of Magic Wok for a long time and it was one of our favourite places to get our takeout Chinese food. Today (Sunday) was the first time I ordered takeout under the new ownership. First thing I noticed was their sign outside said they were open from 11:30am to 8pm however I arrived at 4:25pm to go in and order and the door was locked. I waited and went in at 4:30 to order. Said it would be about 15 minutes for pick up. That’s fine… they are now only open 3 days a week. Friday-Sunday from 4:30-8pm.
“The Food” - we ordered a combo #1 dinner for two which is our standard order of chicken fried rice, chow mien, chicken balls with two egg rolls. Went in and picked up my order and the bag felt very light compared to normal. Didn’t think much more about it as I had a 20 minute drive home ahead of me. Arrived home and opened the bag and I honestly thought I was being pranked! First container I opened had 6 chicken balls in it the size of popcorn chicken. The chicken balls were smaller than the fortune cookie and one was overcooked so bad our dogs couldn’t eat it! (See picture) as I’m not exaggerating!!Quantity of chow mien and rice were smaller as well.
Food Quality - Not only was the portion tiny.. the quality was aweful! Being the first customer of the day I expected the food to be fresh. The chow mien was surely made and cooked two days before and simply reheated. No crisp to the vegetables, just a mush of vegetables. Horrible. Chicken balls…see above and the rice was bland and undercooked. The egg roll had little if any cabbage in it with no flavour and what looked to be minced chicken in it. Not to mention they forgot to put any plum sauce in the bag.
At the end of the day AVOID this place at all costs. You can get quality, freshly cooked Chinese food at many places in Charlottetown with normal size chicken balls for the same price as this garbage. I sure miss the old owners. My two cents….

$103.33 for 3 people (29.99pp) is atrocious for the quality of food that is available for the buffet. I hope their staff are paid extremely well for the price of the buffet and the outdated decor. When given our total we were completely shocked and had to make sure they put the order in right. Extremely overpriced for quality of subpar frozen food, we were hoping to stop in at cows a PEI staple stop for ice cream on the way home but after seeing the total our stomachs turned inside out. Would not recommend. Id opt for McDonald’s over this place.

Run! This was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. I left feeling robbed of $50. I ordered the combo for two. It included Chicken Fried rice (uncle bens with some chicken). sweet and sour chicken (heavily breaded chicken balls smothered in sweet and sour), Chicken chow mien (chopped suey - which they tried to say was Chicken chow mein) and an egg roll (which was the only thing that was palatable). We left almost everything on the table.
I would not recommend this restaurant.

Thank you for graciously addressing the quality issues we had with our meal. The food unfortunately wasn't great when we visited the restaurant but the management addressed the issues humbly and graciously which we really appreciate.

First time eating here and will definitely not be back. The rice was still hard, the almond diced chicken had no taste and the chunks were huge with mostly onion, the spareribs were hard ( never seen hubby not eat these before) and overcooked, the chicken balls were all batter, egg rolls had not much taste either.
The best part of the entire meal was the fortune cookie! Absolute worst $60 spent...DO NOT recommend and will not be back ever!!!! Three new customers and three that say do not waste your time, I agree with the previous person that says to buy your own frozen and make your own.

I don't believe the rice that came with my combo was cooked the same day I ordered my food. My guess is that this rice is ceveral days old. My won ton soup was very hot but had no flavor. My S/S chicken balls were very good, but my almond chicken was as old as the rice. ??

This was the worst place I’ve been to, the food had no flavour and they gave us a syrup instead of sauce. There was too much oil in the food we ordered. Please don’t eat here.

A lot of food did not taste right. The egg rolls had a funny taste to them, and the chicken balls were mostly just breading. The plum sauce wasn’t the typical kind you find at a Chinese food spot and the lemon sauce for the lemon chicken was very liquidy. The vegetable/noodle dishes were my favourite part, but for a buffet I really wanted to enjoy more of the food available.Staff was very friendly and quick to clear dirty plates/offer refills on drinks. They were also great to keep the food bins full and hot.

Terrible food. Trays were not hot enough. Wonton soup was lukewarm. Ridiculously expensive ($30 per person for buffet) for the quality of food. Never again.
