“Amazing.
Mr Valentim - Very friendly.
He sang an emotional fado that brought tears to our eyes.
True, humble food.
Traditional and well-prepared flavors.
Fresh and quality products.
Without a doubt, the restaurant to visit when you are in the Alandroal area or when you want to try typical food!“

“A Portuguese food buffet, you can eat and drink for €10 whatever you want. Including dessert and coffee. The best from the area. Lunches and also dinners. Totally advisable
Parking: It is a very beautiful small town with a castle. I was there during the week and there was plenty of free parking.“

“Everything impeccable, but. . .pay attention to the tomato soup with figs. Soup for two people 10 eurs + 6 figs 6 eurs + 2 poached eggs 3 eurs = soup for 2. 19 euros. . . I leave it up to each person, but it gives you something to think about. Sometimes advice is expensive!!!“

“Pleasant and unusual surprise. I stopped for lunch on a work day. The restaurant was full and I decided to leave, but the owner surprised me with a "pst where are you going..." and promptly found us a table and served without delay. Very good black pork cheeks, not very fatty, well prepared and at a fair price. I recommend it and will definitely return.“

“It was a very pleasant surprise, we were passing through and ended up eating here, and thank goodness, as it's delicious, the alheira balls, without a doubt the best I've ever eaten, not to mention the starters and the main course, all prepared in the time and super good. I highly recommend it.“

“We namen met twijfels plaats op het sfeervolle binnenplaatsje. Er kwam een super lieve serveersters aan gelopen die vroeg wat we wilde drinken. Zij kon geen woord engels en wij geen woord portuguees. Met handen en voeten werken kregen we wijn, water, olijven, brood en meer op twijfel. De kaart is handgeschreven, google lens kon ons er niet bij helpen maar toen we aangaven dat het voor ons moeilijk te begrijpen was. Werden we zo ontzettend lief geholpen. We hadden geen idee wat we op tafel kregen, maar het was echt verrukkelijk. We hebben zo erg genoten van deze avond met deze fantatisch lieve serveerster.“
“Traditional, regional food done right. The winery setting is lovely but the food really is second to none. Generous portions of amazing food with a generous wine list to go along. Not to miss if you visit Borba (the Borba winery own shop next door has an incredible selection of some of the best local wines).“
“An ideal place, away from the usual circuit of restaurants close to the border with Spain, and that is precisely why it provides an authentic local flavor of nature, we could say, Alentejo. They have a brief menu of starters, daily specials, fish and meat, but cooked over a slow fire in the Portuguese tradition. We had Feijoada, which are large beans with rice, very well seasoned, and a skewer of tight pork (exquisite!) and for dessert, a camel slime. The service was quite fast and the waiter was very attentive: he spoke Spanish very well.“

“Friday lunch, got there early at 12:00. Very pleasant outside area to sit in. Great service, good food - I had fish with potatoes and salad, all very fresh and well presented. My husband had lamb chops, they were excellent. The cheesecake was really good and chocolate mousse too. With bread and olives, a glass of wine, 4 beers, bottle of water and a coffee the bill was 52 euros. Will definitely return.“

“When was the last time you went to a restaurant and had the chance to taste wine before ordering, where in a meeting with the owner you had to discuss recipes, wines and olive oils? Where was the care taken to treat you as more than just customers?
It all started with a web search and comments that Taverna dos Conjurados had closed because they "had retired". I went looking for the space and found the owner doing some exterior renovations and informing me that they were only open on weekends and operated by appointment. I made an appointment for the following night (Friday).
The Renaissance fair took away our appetite, but we ordered a salad as a starter.
This was followed by sirloin steaks with apple puree and wild rice and duck magret where I swapped the fried potatoes for rice. The flavors matched perfectly and the wine complemented it. Curiosity for the description of Manjar das Chagas made us order dessert. We also ordered cream cheese sweets....
It was a very well spent dinner where the combination of flavors was perfect.
From us, thank you very much.“
“Simple, honest and very welcoming atmosphere, very friendly prices. Very nice comfort food.
For starters we ate a beautiful sheep's cheese from Rio de Moinho and olives, for the main course we had oven-roasted lamb with crumbled lettuce salad, and for dessert walnut cake and egg pudding.
Good preparation, tender, tasty meat, well seasoned, good wine, excellent service with a very personal touch, at the end they offer a glass of pennyroyal to all customers.
To be repeated, without a doubt.“
“The last typical in Borba and one of the very few that survived in Alentejo. Food is very good and tastes homemade, this is not your typical restaurant, they served only two or 3 dishes per day that change daily and seasonally. If you want an affordable meal with and experience the true feel of Alentejo don’t miss this place.“
“Great surprise! We discovered this surprising restaurant by chance. And we were pleasantly surprised. The fish fillet dish was excellent. After communication difficulties, we ordered a vegetarian pasta dish that is not on the menu. The dish was just great. The food there is excellent. Highly recommended also because of the very cheap prices!“

“The food is good and tasty but the prices are too high for what is served. Even charging 2 euros for an extra saucer of rice on an 18-euro dish seems exaggerated to say the least. Furthermore, the amount to be paid was presented before showing the invoice. It is true that it was a momentary error on the part of the employee, but at the prices charged, exemplary service was required.“

“One of the best dinners I have enjoyed on 3rd trip to Lagos. This is a jewel. Think of an old fashioned steakhouse where you expect to see Frank Sinatra seated in a corner table. The wine selection is extensive. You can purchase a reasonably priced bottle or a very expensive bottle. Antonio is one of the most knowledgeable sommelier’s I have met. We drank a 1966 bottle and he expertly opened it and decanted it. The wine was a perfect match for our meal. The rack of lamb is so flavorful. It has mint mixed in the seasoning but not overpowering. The steak filet is prepared table side and an experience not to be missed. The filet is served with a mushroom wine sauce- you will ask for a second piece of bread to soak up the sauce.Dessert was crepes prepared table side.Overall, an amazing experience. Great food and great service.“

“We were returning to Spain but we wanted to eat some migas from Alentejo because they are famous. Searching we ended up in this place, where we ordered the crumbs (only crumbs because we were on a budget at the end of the trip). Even though we sat at a table just to order some crumbs, they treated us better than anywhere I have ever been. Furthermore, they gave us the best crumbs in the history of Portugal and they never complained that we only ordered that. Like nowhere really here, if you are lucky enough to end up here, I congratulate you.“
“(Translated by Google) The snails were very good and the tomato soup too. The baits were cooked like my grandmother's, who is also from Alentejo. The price-quality ratio is really good. It has a very nice terrace. Very much worth a visit.(Original)Os caracóis estavam muito bons e a sopa de tomate também. As iscas estavam cozinhadas como as da minha avó que também é alentejana. A relação qualidade peço é mesmo muito Boa. Tem um terraço que é muito agradável. Merece muito uma visita.“
“We found this gem by searching restaurants near by and it was the photos that caught our interest! Reviews of course always help but are based on personal experiences and choice of dishes! We absolutely loved this cozy place! Very popular with the locals so we knew we picked a great spot ! We ordered the battered fish accompanied by a side of rice and beans and salad, and a bottle of white wine! We enjoyed our dinner here very much! Very reasonably priced and the service was great! We had no room for dessert but they all seem to order something afterwards and sweets looked really good! Overall I highly recommend this spot when in the area!“
“Came on the recommendation of a Portuguese friend. Wondered if we were in the correct place from the exterior but once we entered it was clear we were in a lovely setting. Pretty empty on the evening we came the staff were attentive and helpful. We enjoyed a totally delicious meal. More pricy than most of our suppers in Lisbon but well worth the expense. We are told the restaurant recently changed owners but that the chef and staff are the same. An excellent place for a special meal out.“

“Great!! We went several times, for lunch and dinner, during our vacation in Vila Viçosa. The team is always friendly and cheerful, the atmosphere pleasant and the food tasty. The shrimp pizza is incredible, as well as the asparagus omelette, the kebabs and the desserts (especially the 'Besides good', it's more than good).“

“Sr Jaquim handled well with a full house and people at the door waiting for a table. With his remax papers to order the orders, he was able to give me a table for four and his “troops” were friendly, fast and efficient in putting good food on my table. I wonder what it will be like on a calmer day... Coming back one day.“
“We stumbled on this place after being refused entry to another as they were too busy - this restaurant was quiet so we were not sure but how wrong were we? Husband had the meat platter on a hot stone and I had the fish on the hot stone Amazing food will definitely call again if get chance“

“I just visited ‘A Chaminé’ in Alandroal and I must say that the experience was exceptional! The food is not only delicious, but also authentically typical, making it a real gastronomic pleasure. A dish not to be missed: black pork, absolutely delicious and perfectly prepared. The boss is incredibly welcoming and contributes greatly to the warm atmosphere. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to taste the real cuisine of the region. A must-visit!“
