“Perhaps the best wild bull rib I've ever eaten.
We actually didn't go directly to the restaurant. We passed through Raposa after having passed through Almeirim and having decided that the area must have something more to offer than stone soup, and so we went further. In Raposa we went to the S. Antonio fair with some stalls. As we are more fans of good homemade food and snacks than of the sophistication of the "decorated" dish that sometimes has little flavor, we let ourselves be led by instinct and off we went.
The surprise happened because Mr. António (no, it wasn't S. António ?) recommended some beautiful fighting bull ribs, medium rare. He came first to show the delicacy that had an extraordinary appearance. Delicious, based on previous experiences I expected somewhat tough meat, nothing like that. Very well prepared, with very simple presentation but a salad with a divine flavor.
Next time I'm in the area I want to try what they say is one of the best francesinhas in the country, completely outside its traditional geographical area.
I'm sorry, I only took a photo of the starters, we covered the whole rib and in the end it didn't look good.
The good surprise also came with the bill. Very reasonable price considering the quality of the main dish.

“It deserves to have more comments than it does. Maybe it's because it's not touristy and the typical Portuguese don't have the habit of writing reviews, I don't know. What is certain is that it serves typical Portuguese food with large portions and an excellent quality/price ratio. We go frequently when we are visiting Santarém. Always good service and good food.
