Lovely restaurant. My sons went on a fishing trip & this restaurant was able to prepare the catch & cook it for a reasonable price for us for lunch. The staff were all polite & helpful. Fascinating watching them prepare the fish with skill before cooking. The covert bread was warm & fresh, nice butter & a selection of items you could choose & pay for the items you selected. Salads to accompany were fresh & plentiful. One of our party who does not eat fish had a steak it was well presented. Lovely view of the boats & harbour & people going by. Good fresh fish counter inside & plenty of ice on the fish. Definitely we will go back next time we are in the area & try more of their menu

But big downside on the service. Reservation with telephone exchange during which I am warned that large groups are not very appreciated (8 people), that everyone will have to arrive on time and that whatever happens you will have to leave before 9:30 p.m. (dixit: that' we have finished eating or not) to free the table for the second service.
Admittedly a bit aggressive approach, but that doesn't bother us at all, we have 4 children with us, 2 of whom are under 3 years old. We therefore want to eat early and not linger so as not to endure the meal. (What I specified to the person on the phone)
Bad luck, we had to wait at least 1h30 between our arrival and the main courses... because I ended up moaning loudly. The dishes arrived 30 seconds later. Although the dishes were excellent, the damage was done, the evening was ruined with a lot of tension for us parents.

If you want to be disrespected and ignored then this is the perfect restaurant for you. Whilst most staff is very friendly, the manager today was super disrespectful and unreasonable. We were a group of 12 and had to wait almost an hour for our table, which we reserved hours ahead of time. Even though we were understanding of this, the manager only started preparing a table for us when I complained 45 minutes into waiting. Our food also took almost an hour and we had to ask for one main dish three times. We also had to ask for the water four times and it only arrived when we were finishing our food. The manager was not even looking or talking to us and a waiter had to speak to her on our behalf, to whom she was just waving her hand at and ignoring. When we tried to speak to her at the end she was talking over us and talking back to us and sarcastically told us she hopes in our jobs everything goes well and that we don’t do our jobs well (very weird thing to say). We understand things can go wrong in a restaurant, as multiple of us have worked in them before but this was truly unacceptable. This all could have been a nice experience if there was managing staff with the right attitude for hospitality.

Then when we finally got to our table (only after asking about it twice again) it took again almost an hour to bring the food. One of the dishes was completely forgotten about. The water we asked for right at the beginning was only brought 30 minutes after the food arrived, after we had asked for it three times.
When we reported our complaints we were met with an incredibly rude response in which the manager did not take any responsibility and was instead blaming things on us.
The sea bass was alright but not worth all the wait and definitely not the price also.

We reserved at 16.00 for 21.00. We arrived at 20.55 and were told to wait. Around 21.45 we were finally seated.
We ordered starters and main meals in one go. We told them to bring everything at once. After receiving 3/4 starters, which were mid for what they charged for it. They came with the fourth after asking for it. It was a smaller version of the dish since they apparently had ran out of squid.
We ordered water around 22.00. We ended up getting it after an hour and asking 3 times.
One of the maindishes was completely forgotten. 20 minutes later and having to ask for it. We were told 5 minutes which ended up being 10.
The octopus a ribeira was just a tomato soup with 5 slices of octopus with some old bread. The fries were good. The tuna steak was cold.
After bringing these problems to discussion, the waiter was being waved off by the manager that he had to fix it. She didnt even dare to come up to us.
We eventually confronted her and she started saying: "I dont know how much you make, I hope you have a really comfortable workspace where everything is perfect. " Basically not taking any responsibility and not willing to come with a solution.

We had a reservation for 9 PM and arrived on time, but were told we would need to wait 30 minutes as the restaurant was busy. This wait extended to almost 50 minutes, and we were not notified of any delays beforehand, leaving us to wait outside the restaurant.
The service was disappointing from the start. The waitress was rude and did not apologize once for the delay. When we finally got seated, the problems continued. Our octopus salad, ordered with the other starters, was forgotten. We also had to remind the staff three times to bring our water. Additionally, my main dish arrived 20 minutes later than everyone else’s, and the shrimp was mushy and overly salty.
When we tried to address these issues with the waitress, she was dismissive and refused to talk to us, blaming the problems on normal restaurant issues and implying that we too cannot do our jobs 100% correctly. This lack of accountability and poor customer service ruined what should have been an enjoyable evening.
If A Ribeira Alvor cannot handle large groups, they should not accept such reservations. Our experience was marred by delays, poor service, and subpar food quality. I cannot recommend this restaurant based on our experience.

We had a reservation for 9:00 and they only let us sit at 10:00 and the lady was super rude to us. Once we sat down and ordered the food, it came 20 minutes late for 2 people because they completely forgot about their order. We also asked for water in the beginning and it didn’t come, so we reminded them of it and it still didn’t come so we had to remind them a third time. The food itself was not good for the price except the cod. The octopus and prawn is horrible and the portion size is laughable. Highly suggest NOT coming here.
