A very family-friendly restaurant, the fish and meat are grilled and you can see the cook at the grill. The fish soup was great.

I went back to this restaurant almost two years ago because I loved the fish soup, and today there was no fish soup, but we ordered monkfish rice and seafood rice ?? I loved it, for me the best monkfish rice I've ever eaten, at the point of spicy and the seafood rice was also divine. I highly recommend it! The fish also looked incredible.
Thank you for the beautiful dish

We love this restaurant; we really looked forward to coming back here this summer. It’s a fresh fish and seafood lovers paradise and provides very authentic Portugese food at great value prices. It’s our favourite restaurant in Alvor (this is our sixth visit to this area).

We love the freshly grilled fish (esp the sea bass - which is huge, delicious and perfectly cooked). We also really like the king prawn kebabs - the prawns are fresh and tasty. Another favourite of ours is the monkfish rice (which also featured prawns) and is so fresh, rich, perfectly cooked and full of flavour. It’s served in a simple, quaint, silver metal pot. For pudding we recommend avó (Grandma’s) homemade chocolate mouse. It’s different to English versions: more silky, fluid, rich and decadent.

The whole restaurant is very sweet, rustic and simple for those who like the traditional authentic experience, with blue tiled walls and paper table cloths. It’s a family run restaurant that has been around for 30 years and this is a huge part of its charm.

The service is also outstanding. We were made to feel so welcome and at home. Thank you Chef João and familia. We’ll be back soon - probably tomorrow if we can get a table!

Salmon a little overcooked so dry, not homemade fries, very friendly and friendly boss. Very efficient service. Their homemade tuna paste is very, very good. The fish is grilled in front of customers.

If you are looking for authentic delicious home cooked Portuguese style family food with taste and flavours, freshly prepared and grilled in front of you with care and attention (all with fantastic service), then look no further. If you want flashing lights and conveyor belt frozen beige fried food, walk on.

Just had the best Piri Piri chicken in Alvor at this restaurant. Great service, great food and lovely atmosphere in a little, traditional Portuguese restaurant. We will be returning.

On the pedestrian street, a small restaurant which doesn't look much from the outside but as soon as you pass the front door, on the right, the chef who is grilling a fish welcomes you warmly. The very friendly young waiter takes you to your table.
A typically Portuguese menu and "finally" real dishes from the country.
For our part, we had a grilled steak and seafood rice....killer ??
Hearty dishes, homemade and above all fresh produce, at an affordable price.
Don't hesitate to go there and above all book in advance. An address not to be missed in Alvor

Incredible food at Chefe João. Authentic Portuguese, really fresh fish and delicious meats. Family run and owned restaurant, lovely people. Underrated and definitely worth a trip for all visiting Alvor. Don't forget to leave space for the chocolate mousse :)

The best address in Alvor! A very small family restaurant (run by the son, his parents and his brother-in-law) which doesn't look like much but whose dishes are killer every time. We have been there 3 times, 3 times delighted. It’s actually the only restaurant in Alvor that we’ve been to several times. Very low prices, very generous dishes, simple but very kind welcome. I recommend the grilled tuna, the fish soup, the fish cataplana and especially the clams which they have enhanced by incorporating a little chorizo and bacon, killer! I'm salivating just thinking about it and won't leave Alvor without returning to enjoy one. I recommend 300%!!!

We've been there twice now. Small, unpretentious restaurant but very good. Very nice server. The cataplanas are excellent, as is the fish soup. I highly recommend.

Not fresh, not delicious, service is just ok. They didn’t have some dishes available, and the waiter didn’t know it when he took the order, just informed us after.
Fish soup was overcooked, overheated, sour and too sticky, with melt bread. Salad they served by micro portions, maybe the cook forgets what is it salada mista? Because they lost some ingredients. And it for 4 euros, really? I know that I’m in the resort for tourists, but it’s still Portugal and Portuguese restaurant, with Portuguese name of the chef. When I said to the waiter that the food was not good, he was saying: Okay.
No, guys, it wasn’t okay: your food, price, space, service and special the kitchen space.
I’m not sure of on Algarve exist HISA, but this kitchen needs this visit ASAP.
They are not taking multibanco, because they are not paying taxes from their business. They bring to the tables the fake bills for payment.
Don’t recommend any one to stay them money for this type of the business.
Shame and ignorance and overpriced.

Unpretentious rustic setting but welcoming and smiling staff, ultra fresh fish and perfect cooking, prices are more than affordable for such quantities, Portuguese tratoria atmosphere, you eat there like at Mamy's on Sunday lunch and then it's obligatory siesta... I recommend this place, a little canteen to go to if you're looking to eat without manners!
