It was our restaurant of choice during a week's holiday in Alvor, the food was well prepared, well served, affordable prices, and very friendly staff. Beautiful and cool place.

What a place! They have specials each day which I highly recommend. I went here for 3 lunches during my 10 days in Alvor and was impressed every time. I had; Octopus, squid and thier local swordfish. Everything was incredibly fresh and tasted amazing. The staff were very welcoming and spoke English well. The place is full of friendly locals as well so we know it would be good before we even sat down.

At a group lunch where we were told that the menu of the day was €10 per person, with cover charge and drink included, 2 adults and a child ended up paying €47. The spreads, butter, water and toast (placed on the table, BEFORE WE SIT DOWN BY THE EMPLOYEES, along with the bread and olives) were charged at €2 per person. Okay, we ordered 2 coffees and an ice cream, but out of a maximum of 35 we ended up paying €47.
Not to mention the fries, sorry re-fried, which were hard and inedible and the meat was so overcooked that it was super dry.
Furthermore, knowing in advance that there would be 3 large groups occupying the restaurant, the staff were scrambling with orders.
I definitely don't recommend it.

In terms of staff, nothing to write home about, the staff are friendly and attentive. Regarding the quality of the dishes, we didn't like it. We found the price very expensive for what was presented to us.

Great simple food. We always feel very welcome at Horta Grill. A lovely family restaurant. When the neighbors cone to eat here you know it is good food. The owners are very nice, hardworking and professional. A real recommendation for genuine Portuguese hospitality on top of Montes Alvor

Generous and quality portions. Good for group dinners. Complicated to make an appointment as they don't answer the phone or respond to submissions from specialty platforms.

It is beyond me where the positive and benevolent comments for this restaurant are coming from. We were there a few days ago with 4 people for dinner and had the following experiences: The menu suggests that there are no fresh food offerings (no daily specials, even just tamboril and chicken skewers), only using frozen goods). We then opted for 2 starters (fried mushrooms and polvosala) and two main courses, steak horta, sardines and fried lagarto (this is a thin strip of meat between the chops and the pork fillet). The champions were swimming in a plethora of oil and the polvo salad consisted of an undefined mass, in which there was nothing in terms of polvo either visually or in terms of taste. The two Horta steaks were sirlon steaks, with the usual fatty edges carefully cut away. The meat was swimming in an indefinable and completely tasteless flour sauce, garnished with potato chips from the bag. The absolute cheek, however, was the Lagarto that was served. Instead of the tender strips of meat, the chef simply fried the cut and tough edges of fat from the sirlon steaks and served them as a dish served with fries for 14.50 euros. This is not only bold and impudent, but actually constitutes fraud on the customer. The waitresses seemed demotivated - although the restaurant was only sparsely occupied - and forgot orders three times. For these dishes, 2 starters and 2 desserts (orange cake and 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream), as well as 1 liter of house wine, 2 espressos, a bottle of water and 4 Medronho, we then paid over 30 euros per person. Conclusion: We have lived in the Algarve for 25 years, but in our opinion this was the worst restaurant we have visited in that time.
The food was very good and tasty. Freshly made dishes.
