Booked a table here, were shown to one then told we were at the wrong one then told we were ok! A confusing start. My husband was served a small gammon steak with pineapple and chips. While I had a lasagne and chips, although the lasagne was ok the chips were terrible. The service was so slow that a couple at another table finished their second bottle of wine and left without having eaten.
I visited this restaurant twice in the week I was in Alvor. I’m coeliac. I got the steak on the stone with chips but couldn’t get sauce. The 2nd time I got the Sunday lunch roast. Also they had gluten free beer (gluten free super bock)
Lovely little restaurant owned by an English lady. We visited on three occasions once for breakfast and two evening meals, one of them being on a Sunday and had a delicious roast dinner. Very clean and staff very friendly. Would definitely recommend
went with my dad to Alvor( my first time going) the first restaurant we went to was The Phoenix, the food was amazing, we went there every night for food throughout the holiday ,the staff are brilliant they proper look after you. can definitely say that i will be coming back here to eat and see the staff next time i visit
Called on the off chance as it was pouring with rain, managed to fit us in as only 2 off us, chose roast beef followed by apple crumble and custard absolutely fantastic meal, quick service and very friendly staff, would definitely recommend if your in alvor
Me and my partner came 2 years ago and ate a 3 course meal which was all super delicious! We had to be rolled home after we was that full! We came back this year to alvor and just had to go back to the phoenix. So we did and they didn't dissapoint. Yorkshire puddings to die for. Jucy gammon steaks. Vegetables all fresh and cooked to perfection. North Atlantic prawns on the cocktail where delicious too. My partner nearly died when he realised there was a banana split for pudding. It was enormous and delicious! Everything we ate we thoroughly enjoyed. We are booked in for Sunday lunch today which me and my partner are really looking forward too. We are even taking friends this time! The staff are great, welcoming and friendly. Even when super busy. Service is definitely spot on!! The place is cosy and very clean. Candle lit tables on a evening. The facilities are always immaculate and smell really nice too. Absolutely recommend to anyone who fancy a taste from home
Great restaurant. Very cosy and welcoming. There's a great choice of food and enjoyed very much. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Really can't recommend enough. Reserve a table as it's in high demand and easy to see why.?
Amazing food and service. Fantastic breakfast friendly staff and chef! The staff at the Phoenix couldn’t do enough for us. We only found this place at the end of the holiday so never had the opportunity for dinner but noticed they had a great menu (including the widest selection of vegan dishes and options in Alvor, we know as our family struggled all week to get a good meal) we will definitely be back next year for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Thanks.

Worsened restaurant in Alvor unless you enjoy terrible food frozen vegs bad service. Went first in 2019 was encouraged to give second chance. Unfortunately just as bad
Ate here on our first night in Alvor. The staff were very friendly and accommodating throughout. Wife and daughter had the sunday roast, I had the chicken and it was just like home! It was so good we went back to this little place a few times, once for dinner and twice for breakfast! Service is first class and the food never disappointed. The brownies for desert are an absolute must have. Thanks again ladies, hopefully so you again in October!
Popped in for 2 breakfasts and a Sunday roast with the family. All 3 visits, we had the same service - great! Fairly central location, lovely setting and decor, good pricing, friendly staff, good variation on the menu. Spot on food, and the Pina coladas went down a treat! Would visit again if I venture back to Alvor! Thank you Val, and your staff!
While I did enjoy the food, as an eating out experience it was poor. The elder blonde woman who works here is obviously the owner. Because her attitude is really bad. Personality of a wet rag. Was overcharged on my bill by about 10 euros. Only for my partner pointing out to me that our bill couldn't have been what it was, I would never had known. Anyway went back in & questioned bill . No apology, only let me check..Handed me back a tenner, no nothing. Found rest of staff lovely. I did see guy at table next to me try to engage owner, but he was wasting his time. Again, I could not fault the food, I really enjoyed that.
Wow, wow and more WOW !! Homemade steak pie with the shortest pastry, Homemade roasties and fresh veg. Extra jug of gravy that I could have drank. He had the apple crumble but I had no room despite intending to have the treacle sponge Beautiful food, lovely owners and spotlessly clean Faultless
