I was looking for a place that served “Migas à moda de Coimbra”, which is a dish made with bread, black eyed peas and cabbage.
I end up delighting on the “Açorda” that was a side dish of the fried “petinga”(small sardine like whitebait)
It was one of the best “Açorda” I’ve eaten in my life.
All food we ordered was fresh and delicious.

We were a little early for the 8:00 PM opening and we were invited in to sit by the owner. When we got to the table it was set with a few different before dinner treats. We had olives, a beet dish, sardines, a type of marinated beans, a mushroom tart & the cheese was adorned with a sweet pepper relish. Our main meals came out under a covered dome and it was enjoyable to have them remove the cover to display the meal. I had the scallops with watercress rice and my sister had the veal with potatoes and spinach. They were extremely tasty. We saved room for dessert since it was a buffet of 12 different choices including, rice pudding, tiramisu, chocolate mousse, flan and many others. The owner was so gracious and helped us make some of our choices, the waiter was so observant that he even turned the light on when I headed for the ladies room.
