“Fantastic reason to visit the beautiful town of Vila Viçosa. Genuinely friendly staff whether you order a coffee or a full meal. Excellent menu with good vegetarian options. Very reasonably priced for the quality and presentation. Have taken various friends who now each describe it as 'our restaurant'. If you like lamb, the shank that they serve will delight you beyond expectation!
Vegetarian options: Good selection“
“Friendly spot by the fish market.Choose your fish ,simply cooked . Sardines very tasty ,local fish corvillo? quite a few bones but worth the effort. Our waitress was keen for us to enjoy the food and very helpful despite the language barrier, our Portuguese sadly minimal.“

“I can say that I have never felt so welcome and welcomed in a restaurant like this! 5-star food, super welcoming space and the staff are out of this world, super friendly. Not to mention the food and the coriander crumbs which are super tasty ???“

“It's worth the trip (for those who aren't from the area) and the time-consuming experience because, in addition to the excellent gastronomic and oenological offerings that are very present with a contemporary Alentejo matrix, the friendliness, brio and joy with which we are received and treated is unforgettable. A very special thank you to Chef Michelle and Chef Rúben for everything. I also recommend visiting and/or staying at Casa Gafanha, the newest brother in the group ??“

“We came for lunch based on all the great reviews. It was even better than we expected. We had no reservation but were warmly welcomed by the staff and seated right away. The bread was excellent. Two of us are vegetarian and they made us an absolutely delicious shitake mushroom risotto. The other two in our group had the seafood paella and were equally delighted with their food and said it was the best paella they have ever eaten. The passion fruit cheesecake was divine. We will absolutely be returning to this restaurant the next time we are in the area.
Vegetarian options: Although this restaurant specializes in meat dishes, they were happy to prepare for us a really special mushroom risotto. It's as good as any you would find in a highly rated vegetarian restaurant.“

“Amazing.
Mr Valentim - Very friendly.
He sang an emotional fado that brought tears to our eyes.
True, humble food.
Traditional and well-prepared flavors.
Fresh and quality products.
Without a doubt, the restaurant to visit when you are in the Alandroal area or when you want to try typical food!“
“The restaurant is easy to find, being on a street corner opposite the Municipal Park in the centre of town. We decided to have an early dinner and were there just after the restaurant opened. Most tables had reserved signs on them. We were lucky in that we got a table without having had made a reservation. We soon understood why. Starters of mussels and vegetable soup were both delicious. My partner had an excellent lemon sole (Linguado) and I had octopus (Polvo a Largareiro) which is probably the best I've had anywhere. Both were served with boiled potato and lots of greens. As usual with Madeiran restaurants, the servings were extremely generous. We shared a decent bottle of white Douro and finished with a light dessert called Molotov, mainly fluffed egg white with a drizzle of caramel sauce and a dusting of cinnamon. The quality of everything was exceptional. By the time we had been served our desserts, the restaurant was not only full, but there was a line of around twenty people outside waiting for tables. Wine, water, coffee and three courses came to just over 100 euro for two which is very reasonable for this quality of fare. Service is friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. With a reputation like this restaurant has, I'd say it's essential to book. I'd go back in a heartbeat.“

“When was the last time you went to a restaurant and had the chance to taste wine before ordering, where in a meeting with the owner you had to discuss recipes, wines and olive oils? Where was the care taken to treat you as more than just customers?
It all started with a web search and comments that Taverna dos Conjurados had closed because they "had retired". I went looking for the space and found the owner doing some exterior renovations and informing me that they were only open on weekends and operated by appointment. I made an appointment for the following night (Friday).
The Renaissance fair took away our appetite, but we ordered a salad as a starter.
This was followed by sirloin steaks with apple puree and wild rice and duck magret where I swapped the fried potatoes for rice. The flavors matched perfectly and the wine complemented it. Curiosity for the description of Manjar das Chagas made us order dessert. We also ordered cream cheese sweets....
It was a very well spent dinner where the combination of flavors was perfect.
From us, thank you very much.“
“Friday lunch, got there early at 12:00. Very pleasant outside area to sit in. Great service, good food - I had fish with potatoes and salad, all very fresh and well presented. My husband had lamb chops, they were excellent. The cheesecake was really good and chocolate mousse too. With bread and olives, a glass of wine, 4 beers, bottle of water and a coffee the bill was 52 euros. Will definitely return.“

“Very welcoming typical Alentejo restaurant. Homemade and very tasty food. We ordered fresh cheese, tomato soup with fried meat, tomato crumbs with fried meat and we finished with sericaia. Everything was delicious. The service was not the most friendly but it improved throughout the service. Small space, it is advisable to reserve.“
“(Translated by Google) The interior of the restaurant is very elegant, but when it's hot, it feels good to dine outside in the garden, everything is very good!(Original)O interior do restaurante é muito elegante, mas com calor sabe bem jantar no exterior no jardim, tudo muito bom!“

“We were returning to Spain but we wanted to eat some migas from Alentejo because they are famous. Searching we ended up in this place, where we ordered the crumbs (only crumbs because we were on a budget at the end of the trip). Even though we sat at a table just to order some crumbs, they treated us better than anywhere I have ever been. Furthermore, they gave us the best crumbs in the history of Portugal and they never complained that we only ordered that. Like nowhere really here, if you are lucky enough to end up here, I congratulate you.“

“Great!! We went several times, for lunch and dinner, during our vacation in Vila Viçosa. The team is always friendly and cheerful, the atmosphere pleasant and the food tasty. The shrimp pizza is incredible, as well as the asparagus omelette, the kebabs and the desserts (especially the 'Besides good', it's more than good).“

“Everything impeccable, but. . .pay attention to the tomato soup with figs. Soup for two people 10 eurs + 6 figs 6 eurs + 2 poached eggs 3 eurs = soup for 2. 19 euros. . . I leave it up to each person, but it gives you something to think about. Sometimes advice is expensive!!!“

“A very traditional restaurant right next to the start of a Serra de Ossa trail, and how good it felt! As it was the first time we went, the owner explained the entire menu to us in the good Alentejo way, and there are many delicacies to choose from. We ate dogfish soup and lamb stew, two local delicacies. Reasonable prices, and friendliness is free.“

“The food is simply wonderful, it takes a long time for the food to arrive at the table, but that must be because it is cooked fresh. The ideal is to perhaps order some starters while you wait. The price is not very cheap but for the quality of the food I think it is worth it.
Experience to repeat“

“Pleasant and unusual surprise. I stopped for lunch on a work day. The restaurant was full and I decided to leave, but the owner surprised me with a "pst where are you going..." and promptly found us a table and served without delay. Very good black pork cheeks, not very fatty, well prepared and at a fair price. I recommend it and will definitely return.“
