Impeccable service, open kitchen with sophisticated, balanced and tasteful dishes ? everything was very good! Nice surprise we were staying at the Riu hotel which is right next door and we had just arrived.

“We were advised at A Traineira (Caniço de Baixo) and we are completely satisfied.
The bolo do caco at the beginning fresh from the wood-fired oven together with our traditional Poncha was divine. Then the picanha accompanied by 2 risottos (onion, beans and chorizo) was the highlight. We ordered it rare to our liking and it arrived that way. Then, at the end, the mousse clearly made in-house with hazelnuts on top was perfect, not to mention the always attentive service. I highly recommend it!“

“It's one of those places that I discovered by luck and a local recommendation, simply incredible, everything I could ask for to end my visit to the island of Madeira, good food, made with care and well served for Portuguese people.

From the more than good tuna, to the incredible corn, loose rice, and the incredible friendliness of those who work there.

If I stayed longer, I would have to go through the entire menu on different days.

“This was the perfect place to be for a holiday! We went there for lunch and dinner. The portions are huge and it really feels as if a Portuguese grandma has cooked the food with love. You can even see the lady cooking from a tiny window and we always waved at each other- the atmosphere was heartwarming. We will come back to this restaurant everytime we are in Madeira“

“We love good food. And that's what you really get in this case! We ate at several restaurants in Funchal, but we visited this one no fewer than three times because the food was really great. Meat is well cooked, fish is prepared perfectly. The only downside is that the bus stops in front of the terrace. But if you eat inside, you won't have any problems with that. The decor of the place isn't anything special... but once again the food is really great! Nice service and food was served quickly.“

“Half of the options on the vegetarian a la carte menu can be made vegan. None of the desserts can be made vegan however they kindly whipped us up a chocolate mousse with red fruits, it was delicious. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. Food is on the pricey side and has an upmarket feel. Beautiful view out to sea.“

Het voorste deel van de zaak (de bar) kan misschien wat afschrikken, maar achter deze bar ligt een fijne zaak met een zeer aangenaam terras verstopt. “Very good address in Machico close to the city center. Pub restaurant which serves traditional dishes and other grilled meats but also burgers and pieces of fish. Garlic shrimp are a treat to complement with bread. The tuna steak is very large (ask for the cooking method that suits you best). Very friendly service.“

I didn't particularly like it inside, it was very empty except for a large table that was very loud
