Best meal we had in ilha do Faial. The alheira a bras is one of the best I ever had. The octopus was tender and, delicious. My parter was feeling sick otherwise he would have finished his dish. Generous portions and good value for money. Must try when in Faial.

Excellent cheese assortment, the Francesinha was not too tasty, I thought it was a bit greasy! Passion fruit cheesecake was delicious! Typical roadside bar atmosphere: people with beers, some asleep with the drink on the table (they spent the 2 hours of the meal sleeping), people outside with their cigarettes smoking... Very friendly, attentive and kind staff.

The food was great! I recommend the black pudding with fried pineapple (morcela) as a starter and the steak (came in a spicy cream garlic sauce). But the Veal Woodpecker (a kind of goulash, spicy) was also great. The locals usually had some kind of scalloped toast or the bittersweet chicken (served in a fresh half pineapple). From the outside the restaurant looks inconspicuous and the name is also misleading. Many tables were reserved on a Sunday evening, seems to be a popular restaurant with locals.
