Super welcoming restaurant, sensational service from Gabriel! The Chef is extremely kind and attentive… the idea was to go to A Laranjinhas, but it was closed, so we walked there, and found the Santa Maria restaurant! It was surprising… delicious food! We love it.

At first glance you would pass it by. Big mistake. Here you will find a restaurant that offers very honest food. The restaurateur and his wife only speak Portuguese, but that doesn't matter. The menu is handwritten on two A4 pages, Google Lens can hardly decipher it. But with the old hand and foot language, a bit of worldly sophistication and good will, you get a meal that is second to none. Not to mention the price-performance ratio. Get involved, you can get the standard everywhere. And no, you are not in a 2 star environment, rather less. So f... what. The warmth, the attentiveness (I was asked three times if I would like second helpings... and I eat for three!!!) and the somewhat different way of preparation for us Germans is what makes it...We were very skeptical, hungry and didn't regret it. Bread, olives and cheese in advance. 2 bottles of house wine (completely OK), 2 main courses, 2 side dishes (rice and home-made fries), 2 espressos and 2 schnapps (to pour yourself, so fill the glass)... well under EUR 50,--... I forgot the bottle of water... ??❤
