“I could almost hear the laughter in the response to our email, 6 weeks in advance of our departure for Lisbon, requesting a booking for lunch; we're totally booked out. So, we took the ferry and walked the long walk along the waterfront and just turned up, with an hour to go before the advertised closing time and that Fickle Finger of Fate (as they used to say on Laugh In) smiled down on us and a table was found. The legend and the hype (thanks Phil) paled into insignificance, compared to the real thing. The food was exquisite, the location, the setting, the friendly staff, the sun shining and sparkling on the water. It was definitely worth taking a chance and I'd do it again in an instant. A truly memorable dining experience.“

“The owner is charming.
He speaks Spanish well.
We loved it because he is friendly and good at conversation.
What it has to do with being from a Spanish mother to a Portuguese father.
Thank you Luis for your welcome.“

“We went on the recommendation of a friend and the truth is that it was an incredible experience. We didn't know what to order and the waiter recommended the grilled squid and the grilled lizard. Large quantities, with the two dishes to share and a dessert, two people ate. Very well priced. To highlight the attention and treatment of the staff. To put a but, say that it took a while to serve us, but if you are in no hurry it is worth it, because you can tell that they cook everything at the moment.“

“First time in Portugal. We ended up eating there by chance. We went around 5:30 p.m. and they received us without problems. Impeccable attention. They made the food for us as we went. The owners, a very friendly couple, took great care of us at all times.Regarding the food... GREAT!! Everything is very very very rich and very very very tasty. In fact, while we were waiting for the food, they brought us some olives and some cheese from the area and... Brutal!! The place is really worth it because of how abundant the dishes are, the homemade food, the flavor, the attention, the price... Everything!! Also, we were completely alone while we ate, so we took it easy.I recommend 100%“

“We popped in the door for wine and bingo. We found a charming place, where we were treated very kindly, and we tried a Verdejo from the Estremoz area that tasted great. The site is an old horse stable, converted into a tavern, with remains of an ancient wall and original arched columns. We haven't ordered food, so we'll have to come back to see it.“

“We loved it, from the attention from the waiters, which was magnificent, to the food.
We were able to try the rice with monkfish, and it was wonderful. Also the tomato soup, one of the best I have ever eaten.
The dishes are huge.
Highly recommended.“

“Amazing locale right outside castle, only tapas when we went but were delicious. Make sure you ask for their homemade piri piri. And check out the shop in the back. Owner is a ceramics artist with pieces in contemporary museum in Lisboa and Elvas. Worth a stop for sure!“

“A lovely find, looked closed but so we tried it
The staff were welcoming and very helpful. We had the Piranha for 2 people, came with chips, rice, black beans and fried banana. The meat is sliced at the table, taken back to the grill and sliced again. Perfect.
There were a mix a locals and tourists giving the restaurant a good vibe.“
“We had a great meal in here a few nights ago, nothing outstanding but nothing wrong. We've eaten many meals in the Alentejo region over the years and this one didn't disappoint. For a kick off, great wine, as you would expect from an outstanding wine region. Bread, local cheese and olives served, all good. Main courses. Pork with clams and Migas with pork, Migas one of the best I've tasted. Pudding, homemade creme caramel, delicious. Would definitely return.“

“We went to eat and we have a medium-sized dog, they let us go inside, which is a nice detail since it was full.
As for the food, everything was very good, but the clams....spectacular.
To put a but, too much noise.“

“I was reluctant to have lunch here due to the negative reviews I read. I can confirm that the service is a little better than "poor" from the two female staff. The manager (I believe it was) is extremely professional and was what "saved" us. Be it the service, the table setting and the friendliness. Our order was served quickly contrary to what I read in many reviews. The fact that it is a weekday and practically empty may influence the analysis. Excellent quality/price for the meal (the best I found in Alentejo this holiday). I believe that with more attention and criteria in the professionals you hire in the future, your overall evaluation can only go up. I recommend it because I would definitely have lunch here again!“

“a place that saved our lives, with an open kitchen and very good dresser, the waitress's attention is excellent, despite us not speaking Portuguese, she spoke to us a little but good Spanish and served us without a problem. The food is excellent, very good flavor and generous quantity.“
“Homemade food, without complications and rich. Menu at a good price. There are 3 of us and we have eaten 2 gazpachos, 1 soup, a gilthead bream, battered chicken, sirloin steak, 2 desserts and 1 bottle of water (+ bread and butter that they provide and charge for here in Portugal). All €33.“

“Very tasty and good price.Super friendly, approachable and dynamic staff. My daughter left her suitcase with the medication she takes. The staff kept it and told us that we could pick it up at that very moment because they were still having dinner, which allowed us to retrieve the vital medication in a timely manner.Friendly, attentive. “I liked the food and would return to this establishment. I think it's worth the value for money. I ordered the steak with house sauce, although it was noticeable that the sauce was defrosted and heated, the flavor was still wonderful.
The only bad point about the restaurant: they only receive cash.“

“"O Grémio Bar" located in Praça da República in Elvas, a place where the price-quality is excellent with the right to watch the various shows that were held there very often and with an underground municipal parking lot. Owner (Toi) very friendly and attentive with employees who do everything to satisfy customers. The excellent cook. In addition to a very good plate of ham, we had a veal steak with mushrooms and roast cod which were very, very good. I will be back and recommend.“
