“We were referred to this restaurant by a local. It's a nice restaurant with a fantastic view over Calheta Beach and the sea. The portions are more than generous and are still digestible even after several visits. Very well priced: Paid today for the Picado de Frango, small version, €10.90 and the Prego Especial €7. Friendly service, clean toilet facilities, everything was great. We would be happy to go there again.”

We got bread and rolls for our hikes from there every morning. We also took the chicken pizza and some other savoury treats with us and everything was tasty.
We treated ourselves to a breakfast of cake one morning as there are soooo many to choose from. The slices are enormous.
Would recommend to have breakfast there every day to try everything. I tried a lot in a week but still feel I am missing out on some things :)”

For the locals: they know what they're getting, so they go.
But for us tourists from the U.S., you get more then what you pay for. Our first visit we just wanted some pizza! So a quick Google search and they weren't that far from where we were staying, so we went.
The service was beyond awesome. This is not your everyday pizza, although you can get it however you want, this is Madieras flare to pizza, which was delicious. The owner (I'm so sorry I forgot her name, and her husbands) made us Poncha,,,and I had already tried some on the island, but this was LEGIT Poncha. It's fresh...and I don't mean fresh out of the pitcher, I mean a FRESH HANDMADE GLASS every drink!
The best part of our visit was the hospitality. We were so happy with our experience we said we'd be back. They were closed the next day, but she invited us back for her husband to make a steak dinner for us in 2 days, which would be our last day on the island, and we accepted.
Two days later and we had the most enjoyable evening of our whole trip. The steak dinner and accompaniments were top notch, but the conversations and stories we were able to share about ourselves, their families, and the island really put an explanation point to our incredible family vacation.
I only wish we had met them and their establishment earlier in the trip. They gave us an overwhelming amount of information on little tips and tricks and hidden gems about the area that the hours of research we'd done on YouTube never covered....guess we'll just have to go back! Thank you again and again for two enjoyable evenings of dinner!
(P.S.- take a cab or Uber...I promise you, you are going to want more then 1....2....3....glasses of her Poncha! :)”

“This is one of the authentic bars in Madeira. Starting from the front door itself, above which something about tradition is written, to the door handle itself, which is original and over 100 years old. The floor is made of cobblestone, old stone, like Skadarlija in Belgrade or in general the old pedestrian zone in cities. Inside there is an old anchor, lanterns, machines used to make wine, as well as various other decorative items. The choice of drinks is a separate story and I hope I won't scare you if I tell you that there are old bottles of wine that cost 2000 euros. Good old rum is served here as well as standard drinks. The view is beautiful because the sea is right across the street. Truly a place you should visit if you're passing by.”

Die Karte bietet ein paar klar gelabelte vegane Speisen, manche optional vegan, wenn zB Käse beim Risotto weggelassen wird. Wir entschieden uns für Bruschett, Risotto und Foccachia. Für gewöhnlich frustriert mich Pizza ohne Käse, das hier angebotene Foccachia ist jedoch super lecker und würde ich jederzeit nochmal bestellen (ich hätte es eher als Pizza Marinara eingeordnet). Das Pilz-Risotto hingegen war für meinen Geschmack etwas zu fest.”
