Very pleasant service and friendliness, but absurdly expensive prices for the quality and quantity ratio (cheapest dish €13.75). Average food, no salad to go with it. For a simple plate of steak with rice and potatoes, cola and coffee €18. It doesn't justify it.

The food was very good, but the service was a little strange, I have been treated better in other restaurants, and the atmosphere was perfect, quiet. And they charged us for something we didn't eat and we told them about it and they didn't pay attention to us.

Par quoi commencer !!!La daurade, plus que minuscule pas d'assainissement elle a le goût de surgelé réchauffé au micro-onde.Charge 1$65 for not even warm bread, when the cafe down the street to Aldi has way better bread for 40 cent.He brings 2 disgusting cheese looking like nothing we tried one and left the other as it, and surprising, he charge 6$for it without even saying first that's we are going to be charge for. That's disgusting and shameless NEVER AGAIN.

Tremendous meal yet again, maintaining high standards of previous visits. Knowledgeable, professional staff preparing & serving first class ingedients. Cannot fault this meat-focussed reataurant.
Seated at Chefs Table, great ambience, v friendly, casual but still attentive service. We missed the detailed explanations of dishes that we'd had in 2021. Oxtail ravioli was highlight, succulent and delicious. The sharer main of short ribs were too chewy and served on an odd squid ink pasta, badly needed some contrast of crispy veg. Portions are huge and can be shared ( we're big eaters) and prices v good value, house Red excellent, all in all great night out.
Great food but we were rushed through a three course diner without good explanation or questions about our expectations.
We visited this restaurant twice in one week of our holiday that’s how good it was. I wish you open a restaurant in London as the warmth and food was excellent. Best fish I have ever had.
Exceptional food. We enjoyed visiting this chef's second restaurant, and the food here does not disappoint. Everything was pristine and meticulously prepared. The food was delicious and mouth-watering.
Big yes from me, it has my seal of approval! Food was pretty good (albeit I question the quantities of meat on the dish which was presented as meant to be share between two people, since it resulted in less than 100 grams for each). Overall, dishes were extremely tasty, some of them were innovative, and visually they were very pretty. Service was efficient, no negative points. The open kitchen principle was equally nice, since it allows customers to observe the cooking and dressing of plates and the interaction between stuff, which makes for a different perspective and adds some variety on the classic table service. Prices remain reasonable for the quality of the food and the experience overall. The only borderline-critical comment is that it is a place that could become a bit too instagramable. As long as they continue showcasing qualitative local ingredients and the substance of their dishes remains the primary focus, them being instagramable is not inherently bad (merely a potential risk, in case it becomes disproportionate). Having said the above, it’s a place that left me a lasting positive impression and to which I would happily return for a visit again. Strongly recommended if you find yourself in Funchal.
This is simply superb! Great staff. Great location. A extensive menu of great food with flexibility (as in our case to have a dish served without onion or to combine two starters rather than a starter and a main). Steaks are superb (looks as if some of their beef is Irish, judging by an advertising poster we noted). Desserts - awesome! It’s not cheap, but it is great value.
On our previous trip to Madeira, we regretted not being able to explore Kampo. Hence, on our return to Funchal, it was our top priority, and it absolutely lived up to our expectations—it even surpassed them. As Londoners accustomed to upscale dining, encountering a €96 set menu at a chef's restaurant would typically imply a per-person cost. To our delight, we discovered that this price covered a meal for two. The quality of the food was exceptional, with highlights including the tantalizing tartar, the unique fideua (resembling paella but with its own distinct character), and above all, the standout oxtail ravioli. If you opt not to go for the set menu, do yourself a favor and order the oxtail ravioli for each person—it's a decision you won't regret. Without a doubt, Kampo is a must-visit establishment. The service is warm and welcoming, the culinary offerings are superb, and it stands out as one of the most memorable dining experiences I've had in the past year, both locally and globally.
We had the tasting menu for 2 people and it was delicious! It was all beautifully presented. If I had to choose, I think the tuna tartare was my favourite. We sat at the chef’s table so I was fascinated watching everything that was going on. Staff were impeccable and explained each dish - including how to eat it if necessary! Definitely worth a visit.
