A Bica Reviews
If you are a tourist, stay away from A Bica unless you don't mind getting food poisoning. We visited based on online recommendations and numerous five-star reviews, and ordered the grilled scabbard fish and T-bone steak.

A Bica restaurant offers delicious traditional fish dishes, well-prepared and served in generous portions with sides like rice, broccoli, and potatoes. The cozy environment and friendly service create a welcoming atmosphere, making guests want to return. The grilled fish of the day is a highlight, fresh and reasonably priced, often cooked to be very juicy and soft. Espada with banana is one of the better ones on the island, and the homemade Poncha and Portuguese Octopus are also recommended. Desserts resemble those from a grandmother’s kitchen, especially if she was Portuguese, and the white Sangria is very dangerously good. The restaurant is located in a basement, with a large room filled with tables, adding to the typical Madeira experience. Despite being busy, the service is friendly and helpful, with staff regularly checking on guests. The decor and pictures on the walls invite guests to imagine old stories, adding to the feel-good factor. It’s a place where everything feels special, and the portions are so big that anyone wanting to feast will be satisfied. This restaurant is a must-visit for those looking for a real treat and a classic Madeira dining experience.
