Didn't eat here. Went for a cold beer, stayed for 2. Terraced bar area with shade from sun if desired. Reasonably priced. Recommend the local Maderia Beer, very tasty.

Great little cafe on the top floor of the market.

Great bar/great cafe in Mercado dos Lavradores. It is on the 1st floor and is partially covered/shaded. Nice service and moderate prices.
Wheelchair accessibility: The market is more or less wheelchair accessible (there is a step in the patio that is equipped with a mini ramp). You can get to the first floor using the elevator, unless it is broken (it was broken on February 19th). Otherwise it's easy to get through the narrow streets of the shops.
A great bar which sits above the main indoor market in Funchal. We had a couple of drinks and a decent salad. Overall the experience was a good one and worth a visit. Be mindful that it is a cash only bar.

Nice setting but otherwise poor experience - staff ignored me, took me half an hour and multiple visits to the bar just to get 1 beer, and it’s meant to be table service. Also it’s not a “beer lab”, they just have a lager, stout, and cider all made by Coral who are the big corporate beer company of the region. Beware it’s cash only but there’s no way of knowing that until you go to pay.

A wasted opportunity. Don't be fooled by the name as there are just 3 beers on offer. My sandwich was the worst I have had in Madeira. Cheese and ham on claggy white bread (would have made British Rail proud). Service was lackadaisical. A tourist trap, pure and simple. N.B. CASH ONLY - DON'T BE CAUGHT OUT!
