Right in front of the Monte church, this little restaurant seemed typical. We thought we were eating a simple, working-class meal in France. Well it was a failure.We wanted to drink a beer that seemed local but of the six choices on the menu, only one was in stock. The cod dish was bathed in oil and the prawn skewers weren't too bad. The service lasted almost an hour. And for dessert, the one that I think was the boss offered us in broken French with a little silly sneer if we wanted fruit.He brought us a plate for two with peeled fruit but at a price of €15!The final bill comes to €63 with a handmade ticket payable in cash.We weren't fooled at the Labrador market but yes!!!!!!And when we went down to Funchal, we saw that there were a whole host of good restaurants.To flee

We ate in the restaurant, 2 flights of stairs up. The bar area is on the floor below where the locals congregate. The waiter was friendly and tried to interest us in an octopus dish, and offered us a taste, o.k. but too oily. We settled for an omelette and the local spada fish, both of which were fine and decent value.

As a family of five, we loved our lunch here on a hot Saturday afternoon. The open windows and roof fan kept us comfortable enough.We had three BBQ chicken servings (our little Maltese loved nibbling pieces of it in his dog basket), home-made lasagna, fresh garden salad, and vegetable soup. All the dishes were very appetizing and filling.The Coral beers and Conde Villar wine were super refreshing!We loved the authentic vibe of the restaurant and noted that it was filled mainly with local folks.

The food was good but the waiter was a thief or can't count. For 3x salad with tuna 9Eur, 1x steak 12Eur, 1x fruit salad, 2x cake and a drink, he wanted 90Eur. Well, horror.

Super quiet place to eat, cheap and very familiar. The food is literally freshly made and all of very good quality. The views of the Church are the best and eating on the terrace is very nice and cool.
