In a world where a lot of high profile hotels and restaurants don’t even bother to cater for vegans, I truly appreciate that the Ritz managed to pull off such a stunning afternoon tea with a big selection of sandwiches, cakes, scones and even vegan clotted cream.

I actually don’t know why this restaurant is listed here as they have hardly any vegan options. I ended up eating tasteless Spaghetti with tomato sauce. Wouldn’t recommend.

Very very mixed opinion. We show up at 9 p.m. asking the waiter if it is possible to eat for two people without reservation... Yes ok no problem and with a perfect smile too! 9:15 p.m. we have our cocktails and 9:20 p.m. we order...9:35 p.m. 40 we have our dishes... Except that we hadn't paid attention but the restaurant closes at 10 p.m.... We're off to a ball of waiters clearing out Around us the tablecloths are shaking...we ask if it is possible to have bread (with our salad)..little grimace from the waitress...it's not possible the kitchens are closed! And off we go again... with the annoyed look of the waiters circling around us... asking the other customers to get busy... We ate our meal at the slingshot, didn't appreciate it our dish (what a shame because it was excellent) we left feeling nauseous! Really not pleasant! ? What a disappointment

On 28th July 2024 we had a lovely meal at the Ritz Madeira to celebrate our Ruby wedding anniversary. The whole evening was lovely and the waiter, Carlos, helped to make it very special. Carlos was running the upstairs eating area single handed but still had time to make all the guests eating there feel special. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was good, he is a credit to the Ritz Madeira and made sure our evening was special.

The place has an extensive menu, of which nothing is well executed . The staff are overworked, the food tastes microwaved. It’s a good location but I wouldn’t recommend for the food, ambience and service. Far better options short walk away.

Been to this place lots of times. Staff are funny and friendly and service is prompt. Food always of good quality even though I've not tried everything on menu. Normal a lunch time stop for the family. Great location to stop and watch the world pass by. Will undoubtedly be back

Nice atmosphere, right next to the park. The selection of drinks and food is very large. The drinks were always very good. The pizza and spaghetti were also delicious. The vegetarian burger was ok. The restaurant is a little more expensive than others in the area.
Vegetarian options: Several vegetarian options available. Unfortunately, the burger was just ok. The pizzas are great.
We went for afternoon tea as a birthday celebration.
My wife booked it a while ago and then read some recent reviews that didn't rate it.
We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tea. A great selection of teas other than English Breakfast tea. The lemon and ginger was particularly good with the pot large enough for 3 and half cups.
The sandwiches were very nice, not dry or stail, as some have said.
The pastry was very nice and the scones particularly fresh.
Our waiter Carlos was very attentive with nothing being any trouble.
The only negative was the spray cream not fresh, but that did not detract from the overall satisfaction.
