Unfortunately, we relied on the great reviews and went there. Because the kitchen didn't open until half an hour later, we sat on the empty terrace. A few guests were also sitting inside having a drink. Exactly an hour later, the waitress (a pretty lady with lots of tattoos) came out, bored, and picked up the drinks. Despite the speech, she continued to calmly polish her glasses. The food was ok, but except for the skewered meat, everything was unseasoned and cold. Unsuitable for small children. No special dishes or a small play area like almost everywhere else. For the price you can eat 10x better down at the harbor. The best part was the sea view!

I would like to share my recent experience at Zarco's in the hope that it will help improve customer service.
I visited the restaurant today and was quite disappointed with the service. It took an excessive amount of time to be attended to. While we were waiting, we noticed that one of the staff members was outside picking leaves from the plants and did not make any effort to attend to us or inform his colleagues that there were customers waiting.
Even though it was clear that we were seen inside the restaurant, none of the staff came to assist us. This demonstrated a lack of consideration for the customers, which is crucial for any establishment that values good service. After waiting for an unreasonable amount of time, I got up from the table and left without ordering anything.
I understand that unforeseen circumstances can happen, but the situation could have been avoided with a bit more attention and organization from the team. I sincerely hope that these aspects can be reviewed to provide a better experience for future customers.

We really enjoyed our stay there - from the excellent service to the excellent food and wine, as well as the enthusiasm for the Euro 2024 football games shown, to the wonderful view from the lovingly landscaped terrace overlooking the large bay of Funchal. The Zarcos experience is mediocre (I’d give 2.5 stars rather than 3 if I could), and while the menu looks great I recommend looking elsewhere if you’re in the mood for espetadas. My wife and I tried the Espetada de Vaca and the Espetada do Filete – both had more fat/gristle than was enjoyable, came out very underdone despite requesting they be cooked medium. Most pieces came out deep-purple and cool in the center, not even the red of medium-rare. To Zarcos’s credit, food came out very quickly once ordered (because they weren’t cooking the meat long enough…), and servings are a good size. Aside from food delivery, service definitely left something to be desired. Our waiter had very little patience with us despite the restaurant not being busy, and our doing our best to speak Portuguese when possible. We asked about wine, and rather than being offered a wine list (which they definitely had) the waiter just asked if wanted red or white and then left to bring out a relatively generic wine (one that we recognized from having tried it elsewhere). We were largely ignored once the food came out, which was a problem when we wanted to order more drinks. The service issue wasn’t just our particular waiter as another couple behind us with a different waiter received similar treatment.

Honestly, I didn't like it, although I believe that both the living room and kitchen staff (which seemed to be one and the same!?), genuinely tried to please!! In the Room, there was a lot of lack of attention to service, detail and customers trying to get attention! Even the boss should be more present and less distracted, he himself almost never paid attention to the service, the food or the customers!! Even though it was physically there! As for the food, I won't say it was expensive given the view the restaurant has, but it was poor in quality and preparation. It was only after the second attempt that the Lapas were “reasonable”, they managed to serve a “undercooked” black pudding (cold inside and they didn’t even provide a plate, just the platter in the middle of the table), the octopus, as it was of the smallest caliber possible and the cheapest, it comes dry and without flavor, the Ventrecha, frozen and without any taste, without salt and the white garlic/Not Braised, The fried corn, despite informing that we didn't want it pale and lightly fried, it came still pale and little fried! I'm not saying I won't go back, but it was at least disappointing!!
