“This restaurant deserves all the stars in the world. The food is exceptional, a must try experience for everyone. It’s a symphony of tastes and colors, masterfully done. We had the chef’s menu and it blew us away. The staff were brilliant as well. They went above and beyond to create a memorable birthday for my partner. They brought champagne, an exquisite cake with a candle and they sang happy birthday. We got complimentary amuse bouche dishes as well. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is visiting Algarve and wants to try a superior dining experience or celebrate a special event.”
“The service was excellent and the staff there are the nicest!
Vegetarian options: Large range of vegetarian options.
Kid-friendliness: Small kids menu.”
“Very well organized place. Places are limited and the turnout is always high. Upon arrival they divert you to the rooftop to drink an aperitif. When a table becomes available you can go down and eat a good variety of tapas, sandwiches (pregos) and very tasty main courses. The sangria is recommended: it doesn't follow the original recipe, but I found it to be a very successful fresh and summery version.”
“This pizzeria that we came across by chance was a very pleasant surprise. Delicious pizzas and an adorable owner (the waitress too). We were finishing our vacation and we said to ourselves that we were ending it in style.”
Restaurants by Cuisine
“We arrived with no reservation and the place was busy, but they accommodated us. The food was delightful (try the chicken in clay pot), the service was excellent and friendly, and the ambiance was very nice. Would recommend this place.”
“Fresh and authentic cuisine. After trying our luck at a restaurant around the corner and unfortunately not getting a table, we asked the owner where he would like to eat. He recommended the Reis restaurant to us - the five of us just managed to get the last table. By 8 p.m. all the tables, inside and outside, were full and the line was getting longer and longer. Rightly so: there is fresh cataplana with plenty of excellent quality shrimp and mussels, and the rice stew with swordfish and shrimp was just as good. 40€ per dish for 2 people is almost too little considering the quantity and taste. Three people could be fed per pot. Our son (9 years old) had the pork steak with fig sauce - he ate it all, the sauce was so good and the meat was tender (he pushed the figs to the side ;)) We were very satisfied - the service was very friendly and accommodating. Great evening! (Total for 5 people with starters, main course and dessert + drinks 150€)”

“This place is incredible. The freshest ingredients that are super simple but create such massive flavor. I'm actually not a big pizza person, but this pizza is literally the best I've ever had. Great customer service as well. Please add this as one of your stops in Lagos, I promise, you won't regret it.”
“One of the best pizzerias I have ever been to, we come from Spain and are going to this area for the first time.
100% Italian ingredients, the pizzas were exquisite, the dough was very good and the Nutella pizza was also very good.
The waiters are very nice.
We had dinner there and it happened that there was a karaoke, after dinner we stayed for almost 2 more hours because there was a very good atmosphere.
I recommend 100%.”
“The restaurant is located outside the center of Lagos, in a quiet area. There are few seats and this helps to guarantee a quiet and relaxed atmosphere and a very attentive and quality service. The waiter who served us was very friendly and good at recommending wine. The food is exceptional. We took Muxama de atum (perfect contrast between the saltiness of the tuna and the sweetness of the onion and orange), Camarao frito con ajo (not the breaded fried food you think but probably just fried in oil, with very good prawns and a amazing sauce), patanillas de bacalao (good), polvo at low temperature with batata duce (very tender, with an excellent combination with sweet potato, perhaps the best octopus ever eaten, really delicious). Fair price for the quality offered. I would stay here again and highly recommend it.”

“I went there two days in a row. The food is good and portions are filling, and the service was quick and efficient. Nothing to dislike. Updated from previous review on 2024-09-13”

“Absolutely THE best evening spent at Atasca-te. The ambiance is warm and friendly while at the same time classy and elegant. The food….exquisite!! The service…superb! Highly recommend. LOVE LOVE LOVE”

“Love this place!! The chicken is seasoned to perfection and portioned well. The addition of lemon or piri piri sauce are both delicious. They also have plenty of side dishes on rotation. And to make it even better, try the fresh berry cheesecake. Heaps of seating options too - I recommend the upstairs terrace.”
“The best is the waiter who served us, very nice and super attentive to the kid. Both the tuna and cod tartare are spectacular, as well as the braised tuna and especially the cheese board. But above all, the chocolate mousse. The hour we had to wait is highly recommended.”
“Absolutely delicious food! Busspa, the owner, came to see us at the end of our dinner and we had the loveliest time! This place has the best service, the freshest and most delicious flavors, and will make you feel like India moved to Portugal! Yeamen, our server, was absolutely fantastic, giving us the best recommendations on their menu!”
“We travelled to Portugal for our nephew's wedding-like a movie! We went around Portugal for 2 weeks. We will be back to Lagos and the Viva Cozinha. We ate there 3 times and each was better than the last. The owners are wonderful and they truly care about their food and drinks. This was the highlight of our travels in Portugal-don't miss it.”
“Very good restaurant to choose in Lagos. Local and authentic cuisine. Fresh and quality products. Tapas concept that allows you to taste several specialties. Dishes offered typical of the region. The octopus salad is great. Fast and very professional service. Excellent value for money. I recommend”
“Incredible food, both the fish (fresh) and the meat (juicy). A marvel. The atmosphere was very good and the staff were very attentive. The price was acceptable for the quantity and quality of the dishes. By the way, the dessert (fig cheese) brought back old memories of my childhood when my grandmother made such a delicacy. Congratulations”
“Fantastic restaurant/atmosphere and great guy who owns it. The steaks are absolutely amazing. Well worth having the fillet on the stone. We stayed for a week in the area and had three evening meals there, that's how good it is. Some of the negative comments here are a bit odd. Go to relax and enjoy, with a little humor. The service is as you would expect from a quality restaurant, not rushed and not slow. Cash only!”
“Lovely Saturday lunch - cauliflower dahl but spoilt for choice, with a turmeric based kombucha to wash it down. Friendly and fun staff and a good family and friends atmosphere. Will be going back.”
“Found this place on the tail end of our trip, finished all three of our final nights here. Best cocktails in lagos, only place in portugal I found serving up my favorite drink, penicillin. They accommodated my pregnant wife with awesome mocktails as well. We'll be back someday!”
“We would go back even if the meal hadn't been incredible (which it was!) just because of the friendliness and care of the entire staff! The constant concern to see if everything was ok is to be admired and applauded.
As for the meal, we ordered a special for 2 people and everything was very well prepared and delicious. At the end they even offered us a glass of Port wine. An experience to repeat, without a doubt!”

“DELICIOUS! This was one of my favourite restaurants during our stay Lagos. We ordered a few starters to share, and each of them were really good (the octopus was incredible- a MUST. The flaming chorizo was also very good). The vibe was great, and the staff were super friendly. If I ever visit Lagos again, I’m definitely coming back to Barbosa!”
“A restaurant with a fantastic product at a very good price. We ordered barnacles, Sapateira and oysters, everything was very delicious.
The service was very pleasant and very attentive, the only "but" we could find is the location, it is not the best to be honest, we stopped there because we were in Lagos and reviewing all the restaurants with the best scores, it is the one that caught our attention the most. attention.
We left very satisfied and would probably repeat if we were in the area.”
“Absolutely delicious (cash only!) We read reviews so we did the 20 min walk. Arrived and ordered but didn’t have cash. Oops! So we walked 10 min to an ATM. Returned and our meal was hot and ready waiting for us! My husband has been holding on to a childhood memory of a steak sandwich from Portugal. He absolutely loved the bifana (turns out it is pork, not beef) with onions. It fulfilled his craving!! I had a really tasty ham and cheese tosta. And only €2.40. Great value. Sweet staff. Delicious food. Locals cafe, not a restaurant atmosphere (at least during the day). Great for food. Not a hangout bar.”
“Delicious meal, especially the fish (golden bream with vegetables). It was one of the most beautifully cooked pieces of fish I’ve ever had, with a generous selection of roast vegetables to accompany it. Lovely service too! I loved the location in a pretty square, a bit quieter than the centre of the old town. Highly recommend!”
“We went for dinner since most central places had a long wait and it was already late. The place was fine, normal Italian. But it took them a long time to bring us the food and even though we ordered only one dish each, it is true that they later apologized because several tables arrived at the same time.”
“This restaurant upped their game. Don’t believe the reviews about long waiting times, the service was friendly and fast. Food was delicious. The only thing that could be better is that they can dress up the outside seating area a little bit more, other than that we had a lovely night.
Dietary restrictions: All allergens are mentioned on the menu with each dish.”

“Absolutely excellent burgers!! So tasty and delicious. Be warned the chips are actual crisps not fries so just be aware when ordering. A really nice burger and the fish tacos were excellent.”
Takeout Restaurants
“Read the reviews and thought it looked like a nice place. It was absolutely wonderful! Very friendly for us and our kids, sitting outside amongst local Portuguese, which is always a good sign. The chorizo cooked at the table was a highlight, and the garlic prawns and patatas bravas were really fresh. Kids loved the thin-based pizzas too. Very much recommended, up a lovely wee back street”
“Lovely casual atmosphere, food well priced and good quality.
However, on the salty side, but that seems common in Portugal

Parking: On a busy road, I would recommend parking above Lagos, against the city wall. The people there ask between 1 and 5 euros. Then walk to the restaurant through Lagos”
“Only stayed for one drink, order was wrong with one item and missing another. After asking to swap the drink and where the other was, we got the drinks but with an extra one as well. This was corrected but they did add the extra drink onto the bill, which again we had to correct. Seems like a lot of things to go wrong on one drink order, maybe I was unlucky.
Atmosphere was great, live music was on and the band was great, perhaps the bar staff were just distracted, we will give it another go”
“Simplicity turned into greatness. We had dinner on the terrace, it is a typical Portuguese place without Instagram bullshit or decoration, we are the usual ones. The service, the people and the food….a spectacle, and very good value for money. To repeat (grandma's homemade food)”

“We decided to go off the beaten track and stumbled across this awesome fish restaurant with a live Rock n roll band. We were made to feel super welcome from the very happy staff. Great to see so many smiles. The food was amazing. I had the Brazilian (don’t be filthy)
Totally recommend this place”

Cheap Eats
“Food portions are very big and very tasty. However, we waited a 40-50 minutes just to make an order. The waitress was really unmotivated, didn‘t even ask for drinks, although it was very hot. She didn‘t make an attempt to clean the table, which was dirty. Also, what is really disturbing, is the woman right in front with her artisan store. She sells all the time, screams and even tried to get us into her store, while we were waiting to be served.”
“The best place to watch sport in Lagos
Sagres is always fresh and always coming out.
Food with flavor
Sympathy”

“This is the place to go of an evening in Lagos. Great drinks (imaginative cocktails like the Trinidad and tabasco-yum!). Lose yourself in the parties and games. Big big screen and the owners are devoted football fans that always respect your game day. Dance dance dance and laugh laugh laugh with the best hosts in the town. Love you guys, will always return on me hols! Xx”
“Incredibly delicious food! Nice service! Went quickly! Toilets noticeably clean! Would come to Lagos again just to eat there again. There is also a large wine list! ?”
“One of the best in our entire Portugal trip. We had piri piri chicken, beef Mozambique, and a shrimp dish (I can't remember the name), and all of them tasted amazing. Even after returning home, we are still longing for them!”

“Some of the best indian food me and my girlfriend has ever eaten. We ate here twice during our 5 day stay in Lagos and we usually never visit the same place twice.
The food was amazing and the staff was super friendly!
Vegetarian options: Whole page with vegetarian courses.”

“Went there for the first time yesterday. Extra early because we didn't feel like looking at it for long, which is certainly possible. Prices for food and drinks are really cheap in comparison. What is a plus is that the toilets are extremely clean compared to other restaurants. We will definitely come back. ? ??. Unfortunately I have to take something off. On the third visit, most of the dishes suddenly became 2 to 2.50 more expensive. I also found it inappropriate that visitors came in wearing bathing suits, towels, tents, balls, etc. A pity, ...”

“Very good service, the waiters speak several languages including French. A beautiful terrace in a pedestrian street. The dishes are quality and plentiful. The bill for 4 people is very reasonable. After the main course we were no longer hungry but we gave in to the desserts because we were feeling good.
I strongly advise French people passing through, there is a bit of a wait in the evening
Parking: There are paid public parking lots, you would get 3/4€ for a full evening, it’s time to save for your leisure activities”
“Solid food, fast service for 95% of dishes. It gets busy. None of my dishes came out late but one of our party waited a while for one particular dish. I wouldn’t sweat it since it’s all you can eat.
My only complaint was the salmon was not good. I shied away from any raw fish dishes after that but luckily there’s plenty to choose from if you don’t want any raw fish.
I HIGHLY recommend their tempura. I was very impressed with every tempura dish I ordered. Their chicken curry and egg fried rice was also very impressive.
Dietary restrictions: Plenty of vegetarian and vegan options.
Parking: Large parking garage nearby”

“I really liked the interior, the staff was very friendly & the ordering/pay system via App worked well. I chose one of the menus for ~13€ which included the avocado toast (added tomatoes 2€), the bliss ball & a fresh juice. Everything was yummy & worth the money I think.”

“I had the vegetable curry and I liked the fact that they asked if I wanted it mild, medium or hot. It didn’t have as much veg as you get in some places, but it was delicious. The service was also very good.”
