“On a Friday night, calling the restaurant and getting a 45-minute reservation was spectacular.
From the food to the staff, everything was good. We opted for the chef's suggestion, a t-bone for two accompanied by broken eggs (I've never had the same), salad and fries.
The pear and dried fruit tart with salted caramel is divine.“

“Great restaurant...
We were invited by the family for lunch...to my great surprise the cuisine is of very good quality and refined, a very good choice of wines is offered...I strongly recommend...personally I would do well with an alte every time I get the chance“
“Make sure you have a reservation! This place fills and is popular. I believe there are 2 seatings. People were waiting for the second seating while diners were inside. Seafood is popular. We chose not to go with Cataplana, which is one of the popular dishes for seafood spaghetti and grilled swordfish. Because we were sharing, the pasta was brought out first. Nice portion with clams, mussels and shrimp in a light tomato sauce. The swordfish was tasty , with potatoes and a few veggies. It’s served with their special sauce. I don’t think you can go wrong with food there. Server and owner all coming by to make sure all was well. Nice little personal touches.“

“I don't usually make comments, but Arratel deserves it, we found it from the reviews, a success. Thank you for how much we have eaten, and for the treatment received, close and pleasant, like at home. The food was 10, the dessert was impressive, unbeatable value for money. Quiet environment, ideal to enjoy the moment. We will return for sure.“

“Good vegan/vegetarian food, nice staff and good atmosphere. I ate the soy with mushrooms, rice and french fries dish. There are some vegan and vegetarian options at affordable prices. Some dishes had a small symbol next to them indicating they had lactose in them, but I checked with the waiter, who told me that it had been a printing mistake and that they used vegan cream instead. Some dishes have egg, but everything is made clear on the menu.“

“Super welcoming space, where I was invited by a client, to have lunch with a group of friends who, from what I understand, have lunch there every Wednesday, and the menu changes from week to week. This time, it was a typically winter dish, a little cow's hand, with chickpeas, adorned by white rice, loose, greedy, very crumbly, to enhance the hand, which was delicious and refined. With a Bairrada wine composing the bouquet, the meal was a success with the couple. It should be noted that the service, super friendly and efficient, fast and attentive, ensures that everything from starters to drinks arrives at the table quickly and ensures that nothing is missing.I'm a fan and I'll definitely be back...“

“We ate tomahawk - it was excellent. Accompanied by broken eggs, which were also very good.Very good service!I found the prices for starters and desserts to be very high. Starters were good, dessert was reasonable, but I will have to try others.I will definitely be back to try other dishes.“

“Very charming Portuguese tavern in central Lisbon, Service was fantastic. But the food was the highlight. Highly recommend arroz de polvo, bacalhao a lis and polvo a lagareiro. Our meal with a bottle of wine was inexpensive. Definitely recommend it!“

“"These are the experiences we live for!" We said as we were treated like family in this peaceful and beautiful refuge where we were able to taste the best meals in this region. The hospitality with which we were received by Rogério, Sandra and their girl warmed our souls while the delicious food (the rice pudding, the perfectly grilled meat and the desserts exceeded all expectations. Not to mention the hand-cut fries) filled our stomachs and the wine, which was passed around the counter as it should be, brought us the perfect accompaniment to that meal! To end this meal on a high note, we had the privilege of a guided tour of this family's legacy, reserved for Benfica lovers, and for those who truly appreciate the spirit and camaraderie that comes from lovers of good food.
Everything homemade, everything familiar, and only for those who understand the true meaning of Tasca in Portugal. For those who don't understand, don't deign to pass by...
Thank you Sandra and Rogério and daughter for the experience and best wishes for success and health!“

“My wife and I had recently lunch at this restaurant which was recommended by friends of ours. It is a good thing we booked a table as the main dining room was almost full and so was the outside terrace both with local patrons. We ordered mushrooms sautéed in garlic butter to begin with followed by Salmon for my wife and I had the Sirloin Steak Brasilian style. As desserts we ordered Torte de nata and Panacotta with wildberries. Overall the food was generously portioned and good. Typical local restaurant with no sophistication whatsoever even the Sirloin steak was topped with an orange slice! Just plain good food. Service was courteous and rather efficient. Overall a good experience as you tend to find in the "so called" best local restaurants.“

“Great Italian restaurant. One of the best pizzas and risotto in Leiria. Fabulous starters and delicious desserts. Optimal service.
Vegetarian options: Pasta with sautéed vegetables, mushroom risotto, spaghetti pomodoro, salads, etc.“
“I live in Tavira and although had eaten an excellent meal here once before, pre-Covid, it then dropped off my radar. Last night while out with friends I 'rediscovered' it and am so happy that I did. It was the first gourmet meal that I'd eaten here for a long time. The staff were welcoming and attentive and I have to mention the chairs. As someone with back problems, the chairs were an ergonomic joy. My black pork filet was delicious, beautifully cooked with rosemary and served with a light, white sauce cleverly blended with a meat reduction. My friends were equally happy with their choices of robalo with prawns in an orange sauce and a goat's cheese gratin with apple and honey. It was on the expensive side but worth it for the quality of the food.“

“We called Ao Largo because we had already had lunch on a previous visit and loved it. This time we were traveling with our dog and due to the bad weather it was not possible to eat on the terrace. The lady who answered my call was super attentive and recommended another restaurant in Leiria that is pet friendly and allowed animals inside. This made us visit the city anyway. We will definitely return to Ao Largo when the good weather permits.“

“We were looking for traditional food and we found it here with super straightforward and honest owner that added to the experience. We ordered scabbard fish with bananas and it was super good. Never had it this way before and I was nicely surprised with this combo. But the craziest thing was cheesecake for dessert that had no sugar and its sweetness was coming from super good cheese that owner makes by himself. I was checking other reviews from curiosity and saw some reviews stating that owner is “not nice”, for me personally his super straightforward attitude was a blessing because I hate fake people :) For me and my friends it was amazing experience and we fully recommend this place!“

“It was a really good experience with amazing pizza.
Only have 2 negative notes:
1- The Sangria was overpriced for its quality, wasn't very good yet it cost 20+€
2- The arrangment of the tables is too cramped. Specially if you get to sit where we did. We sat on the first table in the restaurant which gets a huge draft every time someone opens the door (it is incredible often with all the takeaway orders), making the experience very uncomfortable.“

“A few restaurants in the square all with a. Great view of the castle, also a lot of really reasonably priced food, salad below is an emperor’s salad but it’s not bacon is a smoked ham as well as the Cesar dressing is sweeter then in North America
The cod fish with crew and meat or chicken lasagna was only 12€-14 euros
The linguines were great as well only 15€ each with tons of seafood and seeds and or nuts. Perfectly home made deserts too, but they usually sell out“

“Eat well. A restaurant with a more informal atmosphere, although relaxed. I prefer less luxury in a restaurant.
Normal dishes, nothing that could make me go out of my way to eat here.
Now those are the desserts, an authentic feast for the palate of those with a sweet tooth and worthy of "haute cozine" in a family quantity of desserts.
The golden slices were superb.
One attention. The coffee. Top off a lunch with a coffee that was top notch.“

“You can eat one of the best francesinhas in the region, accompanied by traditional fries. Excellent variety of steaks. There are always dishes of the day to make the meal faster. The imperial or draft beer is very good. The variety of desserts is small, but we go there for the diet, not for fattening.
Parking: It is not easy to park at the door but you can always find a place.
Wheelchair accessibility: The access ramp is, it seems, a little steep.“

“It used to be much, much better! This pandemic (Covid-19), and now this economic crisis, with Russia's offensive in Ukraine having no light at the end of the tunnel, causes prices to rise, and shoot up month after month, from fuel to first class goods. need! And even in the restoration you can see the lack of goods, the quality is there, just need more supply! The crisis lies on both sides, catering and customers and vice versa.A few years ago there was a vast dessert table, and now it's well reduced to half! There was a wide variety of starters that were very cheap to make, so that when we went to eat the dishes, we already had our "bandulho" full.I am sure that the restaurant would always profit, at least from me and my family! The buffet was much better. With an eye-opening and appetite-boosting presentation, combined with the splendid location, it is worth my return whenever I go to Leiria. Until then, bon appetit.“

“Interesting place where some really cool food things are going on. Outstanding produce and cookery is on show here. However, a couple points to note.
Produce is king here. That means it's expensive. And it's not transparently priced. The big cheese and meat board is put down regardless. Everything there is tempting and delicious, but it will ad up very, very quickly and might leave you surprised. A plate of the absolute finest jamon iberico will likewise materialise without asking. This is not free. This is an opt in. The moment you take a bite, that's fifteen euros. This is hinted at in the menu, but not transparent. I twigged this from reviews, and the menu, and munched away anyway because by god it's good and if that's your thing, worth it, but be careful. There are no freebies here.
Ala carte dishes are hearty rustic cooking with real skill and flavour, but lack presentation, which is fine, because food should feed first and foremost and this does.
Star of the show? Wine. The sommelier is a collector. He knows his business. His recommendations, similarly lacking transparency, are nonetheless flawless.
This is worth a visit if you're not scared of paying for top produce. I don't feel short-changed, I understand why some would. This is a very cool place though for foodies.“
