“Ate there twice, one lunch and one dinner. The service is nice and professional. The food is great, very tasty like a gourmet restaurant, the vegetarian risotto was excellent. Wine list is a big deal there,it is like a book and all the wine ceremonies are a bit too pompous to my taste and at the end when you order a glass they serve about a quarter of the glass. Over all it was nice and tasty but way too expensive for what you get .“

“Zeer lekkere lokale gerechten met liefde bereid. Old skool, zonder kaart, keuze uit een viertal gerechten. De lekkere wijn staat uitgestald, je kan er eentje kiezen. Er wordt enkel portugees gesproken, maar Gina deed haar best om te communiceren en alles liep vlekkeloos! Aan te raden als je logeert in de casa agricola.“

“Delicious food. Had veal with risotto, which tasted heavenly. The host is friendly and accommodating. The prices are good and you leave full for reasonable money. Preferably a place I will come again. The place looked a bit closed when we arrived (7.30pm), but don't be fooled. ?“

“It was our second time at this restaurant. The location is excellent, next to (and overlooking) a small waterfall on the Teixeira River.
Now there is new management.
We ate breast accompanied by salad, rice, potatoes and black beans. Everything was good, but the rice was great.
We also ate Peasant Steak with mushroom sauce, accompanied by rice and potatoes. Using my husband's words: "It was divine."
The atmosphere remains very pleasant and the service is very good.“

“Absolutely delicious ! I had the grilled chicken which, unbeknownst to me, came with rice, fries and a salad and it was simply delectable. Friendly staff too, great recommandations in wine and the prices were very affordable, I highly recommend this place !“

“An absolute ‘must go’ if you’re around Vila Real. The octopus was incredibly tender, the kid goat with alheira was gorgeous and the grilled mushrooms could have only been a product of witchcraft. The veal carpaccio was a star and the service impeccable.“
“We had a great time with my friends in this restaurant facing the entrance to the Palais de Madeus, the welcome is very warm and friendly, the menu is made up of quality regional products and the dishes are excellent just like their Porto Blanx who is a marvel…. I recommend“

“Very traditional food with a quaint ambiance. The service could have been friendlier, but given the age of the waiter, let's leave that as laziness. Well-stocked meal with side dishes and succulent meat and fish. We'll come back to that. ?“

“Now this is food!
Wonder!
I've already eaten Alentejo-style meat and maronesa steak.
It's often said to eat and cry for more... but in this case it's time to repeat it!
Portuguese food with a big P!
Congratulations to everyone, especially the cook!
Dessert: Mango mousse (also good!)
In addition to the surreal-tasting food, the people are also extremely friendly!
It's worth having lunch or dinner here (I recommend both).
Congratulations to everyone on the phenomenal service and food!“

“I do recommend it.We were a party of 7 and 2 babbies. We ordered the mixed platter (several different cuts) and we were delighted with it.Right next to the exterior area there's a kids playground..which is quite handy to keep them busy :)If there is something to be corrected...please prohibit people from smoking on the outside area. Nothing worst than having a great mral interrupted by cigarette smoke. (Thats the explanation for the 4stars on athmosphere)“

“Excellent food. Very pleasant atmosphere. But at busy times the waiting time is long and the service is poor. I noticed people who had waited so long at the table and left. Therefore it is a point to improve. Of course I won't stop coming here. It's worth trying.“

“After reading some comments, I was a little afraid of risking a family lunch at Xanoca! Contrary to what I read, we were well received, the food was very well prepared, with more than enough and generous portions, with very acceptable prices! I can't say it's a great place, but it was pretty good!“

“Very good traditional restaurant. The welcome, the service, the meal, the wines, everything was perfect. I sincerely recommend this restaurant. Originally from Switzerland, we were very well advised on what food and wine to order. In addition, the prices were very reasonable.
Thank you for this good time spent in your restaurant.“

“Recommended by a resident of Vila Real, we walked through the door of this restaurant and did not regret it.
Friendly welcome upon our arrival.
We were seated nicely and despite the language difference the explanations were very clear and given with patience. Between English, French and hand language ?, they explained to us that the €9 menu included starter, main course, coffee and drink. What more could you ask for: a small dessert for €3. About ten pastries and ice creams await us. So we ate for €24 for two in a very nice atmosphere.
The starter remains the same, soup then your choice of fish or meat served today with fresh vegetables (cabbage and carrots) and baked potatoes.
A map is also offered.
We did not regret our choice.
I think it is best to book because the room fills up quickly.
Bon appetit to those who pass through the door.“

“The restaurant offers typical Portuguese dishes at a very good price/performance ratio. We had the Armamar pizza and a Francesinha toast.
The portions are large and the food is impeccable. Paying by card is no problem. (Debit/credit, e.g. Visa)
I can only recommend! Yesterday, Mother's Day, it was a little more crowded, but it was still nice!
Vegetarian options: Some pizzas are vegetarian, a margarita should also be possible.
Parking: Right in front of the restaurant on the street.
Kid-friendliness: There are high chairs. Children's portion should also be possible.“

“After making a mistake and making a reservation for a restaurant with the same name in Lisbon, we had this incredible surprise. A restaurant with such a family atmosphere that it feels like you're dining at your aunt or uncle's or grandparents' house. The food is homemade and very well prepared in very generous portions. The living room has a real and quite large fireplace that heats practically the entire space and makes it even more welcoming. All the staff, without exception, are incredibly friendly and attentive to the needs of each table. We ate the oxtail, which we highly recommend due to the wonderful flavor of the sauce. The alheira as a starter was probably the best alheira we've ever tasted! For dessert, I highlight the chocolate mousse, which is homemade and with the right consistency. Finally, one more surprise… the bill! €63 for 4 people with starters, drinks (including house wine), main course and dessert. It's very rare to find a restaurant of this quality, at this price and with such incredible staff that you don't even want to leave. Many congratulations to the team and thank you for giving us a spectacular night!“

“This small, simple “tasca” has outstanding food and service. The best roast kid (cabrito) I have ever eaten, after 35 years in Portugal - tender, succulent, in a perfect light sauce, with delicious roast potatoes and tasty pilau style rice. “Restaurant located in the Six Senses Douro Valley hotel.
Prestigious place, with a sublime atmosphere where details such as ambiance, comfort, lighting, are followed to the letter.
On the 31/05th, I went to this restaurant for dinner and with the hot day, we stayed on the terrace. Adequate ambient music, an atmosphere with great class and good taste. All framed with a wonderful view over the Douro River.
The cod fillet was divine, offering perfect flakes and the ideal touch of salt. I felt a soft crunch on the skin, counterbalancing the softness of the very well seasoned lupine puree.
Unfortunately I don't give 5 stars for the service. In fact, the service definitely deserved 3 stars, especially for the sommelier.
We ordered wine to accompany the meal and were not given any introduction, explanation of grape varieties, methods, etc. as indeed, it is the work of a professional sommelier. In general, the entire attitude of indifference towards us, the lack of empathy and sympathetic dialogue has created a glaring gap. Basically, there was a lot of superiority for little professionalism.
The same lack of friendliness was felt by the only employee working that day.
I close by saying that in a hotel and restaurant of this range, these foundations of good service should be natural and mandatory.
In a restaurant experience with dishes with so much technique and quality of presentation and ingredients, being tarnished due to a lack of tact on the part of the wait staff is serious.“

“If you find it, don't hesitate to push the door, it doesn't look like it's open, but the room is at the back. And, on the kitchen side, it's simple, homemade, with local products, and brilliantly good. The advice... a pitcher of white wine, slightly sparkling, it is excellent. And then the price! 25€ for: 2 beers, 1 pitcher of white wine, 2 extra dishes, salads/tomatoes for 2 (delicious), 2 desserts, we even wondered if there was a mistake!.Remember, try in any case we recommend.“

“Typical restaurant in the Vila Real area that presents some typical northern dishes such as cod tripe or pataniscas with bean rice which was what we ordered, accompanied by a house made red wine and apple pie for dessert. The coffee is poor and so it's worth looking for another place and getting to know the area...“

The food was very well prepared and tasty.
The service initially raised an alert but then everything went exceptionally well.
The pleasant space and the bathrooms are clean and smell good, this for me is an indication that they take care of cleanliness.
I will definitely be back.“

“Chicken was well seasoned, but I found it drier than the one from the barbecue where I usually buy it (royal). Very good side dishes, homemade rice, and very tasty homemade fries, which surpassed the quality of other barbecue places in VR. I didn't like the sausage, it was half raw. The chicken itself didn't surpass the quality of the royal. nice space.“

“We learnt from our waiter that Tasca means pretty much like “a hole in the wall “ in Portuguese and Jota means J. It was a delightful dinning experience for me and my wife.
