“A hidden gem tucked away in Guimarães, with the most beautiful little terrace to soak up the sunshine.
The restaurant is trendy and modern with gorgeous interiors. The staff are so friendly and the food was AMAZING!! We had their set lunch menu and the shrimp tacos were unreal. Highly recommend visiting and hoping we can squeeze in another visit before we fly home!“

“It was not our first time when this restaurant was “on our radar”, as we visited the region one year before, and wanted to try it out. At that time, my girlfriend felt like the menu was focusing too much on fish, and I can fairly say that, one year later, wow, was she wrong :).
The location itself, whilst not very impressive from the outside, is very cozy and well designed on the inside, just perfect for a relaxed, yet memorable dining experience. The staff was very attentive and their English was spot on (I am Portuguese, but my girlfriend prefers English, so all of the dishes were explained and presented accordingly).
It’s not by chance that one of the menus was called the “Balanced” menu, as for us - who like fine dining, and are no strangers to 1 star Michelin restaurants, especially in Portugal - it was, perhaps, the most perfectly combined set of dishes we ever had.
Chef Antonio Loureiro succeeded in designing the menu in such an incredible way, that every dish (and I do not exaggerate when saying EVERY dish) was as tasty as it comes. The flavors, the attention to detail, but most importantly, the selection of ingredients, were the things that impressed us most. Looking back, it was hard to pick just one dish that stood out…because we liked them all.
We highly recommend this place, as it’s one of those hidden gems, which you should not miss, if you’re a foodie!“

“Fantastic place, excellent service, five-star service, especially the owner who is incredibly friendly and attentive.
Our choice was a steak au pepper and a chunk of it was empty. The meat is of high quality and cooked to perfection.

“I've known Café Oscar since 1999, when I arrived in Portugal...from England. It's changed its image in recent years... now it's much more chic. But prices remain reasonable.I don't think there is another cafe in Guimarāes that compares to this one. Reminds us of la belle époque. ?“

“Another great (veggie) lunch in guimaraes. We had the pasta with veggie balls and they were excellent! The service was very friendly. We visited with our little 3 month girl and it was a little noisy and we could not lie her down (no benches), but that did not ruin our experience. The service offered us a baby chair, but she can not sit yet. Thank you for the great food!“

“Very nice place to dine, they even gave us a choice of terrace or inside, the staff paying attention to all the details all the time. Unbeatable treatment.
All the dishes we ordered (rice, sea bass and cod) were on point, tasty and very well presented.
In short, perfect quality-quantity-price ratio.“

“Very pleasant surprise with this restaurant. We ordered rojões and feijoada from Trás-os-Montes as the menu of the day, served with caldo verde, regional bread and house wine, of excellent quality, for just €6.5!
The staff were very attentive and quick.
Relaxed atmosphere in the historic center of Guimarães.
Congratulations to you ?????“

“Excellent restaurant at all levels. From welcoming customers to farewell. Always attentive and incredibly friendly and helpful. The food is great and with very generous portions. Good wine, good room close to the city center of Guimarães (by car), but far enough away to not feel the typical service for tourists where you don't feel the homely touch. Beautiful family dinner.“

“A group went here to dine. The main course of lamb knuckle was delicious, without the smell of sheep. The environment was comfortable and the staff was kind. The environment looked clean and comfortable. Ordering a glass of red wine went well with the meal. There were also many locals dining in the store.“

“I had the pleasure of dining at Quinta da Lama, a former olive oil mill that has been transformed into a delightful restaurant. The place exudes a cozy and rustic charm, with clay pots and vintage stone adorning the dining room. The menu offers a wide range of dishes, from traditional Portuguese cuisine to Mediterranean and European influences. I opted for the “posta à lagar”, a succulent tenderloin steak cooked in olive oil and garlic, and the cod with cornbread, a classic Portuguese dish that was moist and flavorful. Both dishes were exquisite and prepared with fresh and quality ingredients. The salads and bread were also very good. For dessert, I indulged in the “leite creme”, a creamy custard with a caramelized crust. It was heavenly, one of the best I ever had. I also enjoyed the house wine, a local red wine that complemented the food perfectly. The service was impeccable and attentive, and the prices were reasonable for the quality and quantity of the food. I had a splendid time at Quinta da Lama and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic and satisfying dining experience in Amarante.“

“Attention and waiting times to be served perfect. Nothing to say either about the food, very delicious.
The only drawback that the place has for me and for which I do not give 5 stars is that in practically all the dishes the price is given based on weight (for example steak €40/kilo). This means that you don't really know what the price of a portion is and that when you get the bill you don't know if they are charging you right or wrong since you never know the weight of the piece that has been served to you. It is a topic that I did not like at all since it is always up to the restaurant to charge you one price or another since no one tells you what is the weight of the piece that they are going to serve you. Very limited menu and practically all dishes priced at €40 - €45/kilo.“

“Tasca with a good atmosphere, always with fado music at a very pleasant volume, very friendly service and attentive to customer needs. As for food, for those who like tapas this is the best place to eat, worth every euro spent. Very tasty food, excellent quality, excellent prices for the quality it offers. Without a doubt, it is one of the best restaurants in Felgueiras for tapas. This is the second time I've been there and I will definitely go back. The prices range from €15 to €30 (although I entered 20-25), as it will always depend on the amount of food you order, the first time I paid €31, the second time I paid €19.. The dish What I recommend trying are the nails in the bread that are in the photo, you will certainly like them.
Parking: Sometimes you can find parking in front of the restaurant's door, sometimes you have to leave it a little further away but only 100m away, until it's quite close.“

“I would say that it is almost the best sushi I have ever tried in my life. Since we were in Portugal we wanted to have something more traditional but we ended up here and we couldn't be happier. The sushi was delicious and they did very good service, the buffet price is GREAT!
Vegetarian options: If you tell them that you are vegetarian, they will make you a more personalized sushi for you, this is what they did for my friend who was delighted.“

“A great experience! Friendly atmosphere, helpful staff and very good food.
We ordered garlic bread with cheese (starter), cod puff pastry and a vimaranes francesinha.
To finish, we tried the Dona Maria sweet, an excellent combination of chocolate mousse with camel baba, biscuits and cream.
Without a doubt, I will repeat it when I return to Guimarães.“

“I really liked! We ate garlic bread with cheese and bacon, the potatoes with cheddar cheese and bacon are incredibly good, I had a spectacular Calzone that I loved, and the kinder bueno cheesecake dessert is good. But the crepes are divine! I went with a group of friends, the atmosphere is good for talking and hanging out, and the staff are very friendly.
Wheelchair accessibility: Yes, it is, there is Portuguese pavement around it but the entrance is level.“

“The restaurant offers a very pleasant atmosphere, ideal for family gatherings without noise or confusion. The staff is friendly and attentive. The starters are well prepared, including paladinhos, pataniscas, octopus, cod, alheira puff pastry, vegetable puff pastry and ham. The Spanish-style cod accompanied by stewed potatoes and Douro red wine made the meal perfect. The burnt cream milk dessert, despite not being homemade, complemented with coffee ended the experience. The visit is worth repeating.“
“An iconic space in Guimarães, Casa Costinhas is a must-visit point to discover typical Guimarães sweets, such as Toucinho do Céu and Torta de Guimarães (the original recipe, based on egg, sugar, almonds and chila, was created here). “Good entries and a lot of prices on offer. It would be better if the steak was cooked less and the bread had a less dense crumb to let the meat shine more. I think the bread is quite good, but it should have a softer crumb to make the meat feel better.“

“I found this little pastry shop by chance. Lucky for me to discover that this small space has a huge story to tell. Its regional cakes are made from a secret recipe that has been passed down from generation to generation.- Guimarães pies- Guimarães sky bacon- Douradinhas from GuimarãesThese are the 3 cakes to try. The person who opened doors to my Divine Gluttony was Mrs. Alexandra. Sorry, she asked me to just call her Xana. We had a very pleasant conversation about the history of these cakes and, to my surprise, I learned that these delicacies are better known to foreigners than the Portuguese themselves. This pastry has already been recognized by televisions in European, American and Asian countries, all of whom are in love with the sweets of Guimarães.Perhaps, as Portuguese, because we associate this city with conquests and glory, we do not believe that it is capable of sweet feats. We couldn't be more wrong.Xana and the rest of the family, I hope one day to see your great legacy receive the recognition it deserves. Until then, I'll pass on my word.“

“We stumbled upon this restaurant through the good reviews it has on Tripadvisor. And it lived up to every single one of them! The food is great. We ordered some different dishes to share and everything was really tasty. Our favorites were the pork cheek, polvo, shiitake and the smoked chorizo. Also, the staff is amazing. They had great recommendations, were super friendly and made sure we had a good time. We had the privilege to go there twice and it was a pleasure. From the outside it may look a bit unassuming but don’t let that fool you. Highly recommend this wonderful restaurant.“

“In the city center we discovered this excellent restaurant that welcomed us very warmly. We chose a table on the balcony which gave our dinner a fresh feel.
The food was excellent, with simple things but very well combined, for example, mushrooms with cheese and a touch of mint....... Desserts follow the same policy.
Place to consider whenever you return to Amarante“

“The food is well made with a very good flavor but the problem is that a portion is secretly €25, supposedly designed for 2 people, we eat that portion practically alone, which we thought was not enough for 2 and that it comes accompanied by rice To all this we ordered chicken wings, scrambled eggs, ham and cheese board, to distribute to 5 adults, 2 babies and 2 children, all very delicious.
It is recommended to go early since at 10:30 p.m. we were alone in the place and with the owners who wanted to clean and close but I think that was our fault since we are not used to having dinner so early.“

“We went to eat on December 30 and it was all friendly from the beginning. Mr. Casimiro was charming at all times, attentive, concerned and very kind. We start with the olives and the bread with butter. He gave us a tapa of bacalhao pataniscas (which he didn't charge us), a very delicious tomato, onion and lettuce salad. We ordered bacalhao for 4, very abundant and delicious, with its potatoes and the tray of rice. He gave us to try the feijoada (a good tray, which he didn't charge us either).
