“Classic Alentejo restaurant in the quiet town of Pavia in northern Alentejo. We had couvert of olives, cured ham and local cheese to start followed by salted cod fish and secreto porco preto (black pork) which were both delicious. Accompanied by delicious local wine, friendly and helpful service- this is local, Portuguese dining at its best. Worth a visit!
Parking: Free, on-street parking.“

“Delicious food. They have partridge, hare rice and other less common delicacies.
Traditionally Alentejo space. Professional, fast and effective service. Kind and attentive staff.
It appears that some people know the place and search frequently. It has a reputation for being the best in Avis.
Kid-friendliness: Suitable car seats. Kind and attentive staff.“

“After reading some negative and some positive reviews, today we decided to give this restaurant a chance. And yet we did it.It was a gastronomic experience andSimply wonderful. From the service, to the atmosphere and the food, we have nothing to recommend. For starters, a divine warm bread with spectacular painho.Next we tried asparagus crumbs, smoked crumbs and mushroom crumbs, I can't say which were the best, they were all great. Black pork feathers and tender, well-seasoned alguidar meat. The wine, both white and red, is very good. For dessert, the homemade dessert was wonderful, but I have to say that we kept an eye out for the biscuit cake at the next table and the sericaia. Conclusion experience to be repeated for sure!!And a special thank you to the staff who were fantastic and very attentive!“

“Being allergic to garlic is not easy but Paulo's tavern made the matter easier and the meal was excellent! Calm and very welcoming atmosphere, typical without being too much. It's well worth the detour from any destination for a meal.“
“It is advisable to make a reservation We tried to go to this restaurant without reservation and couldn't get a table that night. The next day we made an appointment and went there for dinner. We ordered bread and olives for starter, (the olives were great) and for the main course, Grilled lamb ribs from Alentejo and Portuguese veal steak. The Lamb Ribs were absolutely PERFECT. For Dessert we ordered Pão Rala. We enjoyed it so much that we went back there a second time for dinner again. This time we only ate appetizers/starters and desserts. Scrambled Eggs à Petisqueira are great! For dessert we ordered a Pajama Doces Alentejanos (a way to try 4 typical sweets) in this case we tried Teculameco (Dessert based on eggs, almonds and icing sugar), Pão Rala (Dessert with gila, almond and egg strands), Enxarcada de Ovos (Eggs, cinnamon and sugar) and Delicia de Castanha ( a Chestnut Delight). All lactose free, to my own delight! All Covid rules are observed and strictly adhered to.“
