The service was great and very friendly, and the dishes had a spectacular flavour, yes, with a lot of quantity, so I recommend not going overboard as they come very full. “Excellent restaurant. We went in because it was a little late (2:00 p.m. in Portugal) and it is the first restaurant you find from the parking lot just outside the wall. There were still quite a few people eating. The street is very quiet, very pleasant and has some tables outside too.
We tried some mussels that come with a vinaigrette-type sauce, but spicy, with very chopped onion and pepper. Large and tasty, different from the Galician ones but delicious. With all the goodness that cod is, I highlight the quality of the MEAT in this place.
The cod was excellent, we ate "from the chef" and another with broa crumbs. Both very abundant and very rich. Also stone-grilled loin steak (beef, they bring the stone to the table with the meat finishing cooking), perfect in preparation, very large, tender, juicy and with a delicious flavor, one of the best beef I have ever eaten. The garnish was very abundant, fries and rice, very typical there. Each of those three things costs €19-€20 or a little less, and it's not easy to finish them. The mussels, each tray of six, €8, but they are very fat.
The menu, in addition to some starters, is mainly cod and other fish and meats, with enough variation and prices.
Very polite and attentive service, as is usually the case in Portugal.

“We were staying in Melgaço and purposely went to Monção to taste typical food from the region. We read the reviews and had no doubt that we were in the right place. Didn't disappoint! We chose sliced veal served with bean rice. A delight. The atmosphere is spectacular and we were very well attended to.“
