Simple cafe with no frills.
The coffee was delicious, the traditional pastry “Pastais de Nata” was too and came with cinnamon and the cheesecake with fruit was the best so far.

Freshly squeezed orange juice is also highly recommended.

The prices there are far below those in the city center, even though it's only a few meters away!

Amazing staff, they take their time to actually explain what the food there is if you don‘t speak portuguese. Really friendly staff. Food (especially breakfast) is wonderful aswell. Server told us that we‘d be coming back and we did! :)

Vegetarian options: Fried spinach pockets are amazing

Very good local dishes.
Nice atmosphere, workers, a few tourists.
Nice surprise in the middle of the tourist brands.

We ate inside and tried the francesiña (Sandwich with many types of meat, topped with fried egg, cheese and all in a tomato sauce and basket of fries), the cod was on the spiny side. The waiter was a little dry, but it is understandable in such a touristy city and with people who speak another language.

Highly recommend by a tour guide. Their definition of plate of the day seems to differ from what I have become accustomed to. They have plates, but each dish and drinks seems to be charged separately?
Maybe it's just me?

Wheelchair accessibility: Not exactly wheelchair friendly, no ramp but only one step up.

The service was excellent. Even though there was only one person to serve all the tables, she went out of her way and managed to serve everyone very well.
We ate the prego na plate, which is a steak with a fried egg, french fries, pickles, a slice of ham, a slice of mozzarella and olives.
