Bad food, great selection of wines and a gorgeous view of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia.
I ordered sardines, they had so much wine vinegar added to them that my stomach hurt. In this place you can only drink wine, I don’t recommend eating.

Excellent food in a nice restaurant. Very friendly but poorly coordinated service.

Very expensive and incomprehensibly hot wines, both white and red.

The lady who served us Fernanda was so sweet and genuine. She’s one of the best waitresses we’ve had on holidays so far. She was polite and always smiling. She was friendly and professional. She made our experience wonderful. The waiter who provided us complimentary wine was also great, very friendly. Everyone we interacted with was lovely. Views and ambience was great, food was delicious, only downfall was portion size. The lamb my hubby got was super small considering the price. Overall it was a lovely dinner though.

Great view, great service, and great food! The pineapple peel drink was fun too. I loved the melon ham appetizer the most. So unique and creative food.

My recent visit to Digby Restaurant in Porto was a thoroughly disappointing experience. Despite its promising ambiance and location, the overall dining experience fell significantly short of expectations.

Firstly, the service was incredibly slow. From the moment we were seated, it took an unreasonably long time to receive our menus, and the wait for our food was even longer. This lack of efficiency severely detracted from the enjoyment of our meal.

The portions, when they finally arrived, were noticeably small. For the high prices charged, one would expect a more generous serving. Unfortunately, the small portions left us feeling unsatisfied and questioning the value for money.

Speaking of pricing, we found the restaurant to be significantly overpriced. The quality of the food did not justify the steep prices, making the meal feel like poor value overall.

To finish off our meal, we decided to have a port wine for dessert. One of our party was particularly excited about trying the red port, clearly stating that she was not into white wines. Despite this, the waiter specifically recommended the white port. Trusting the recommendation, we went ahead with the order, only to discover that it was €30 more expensive than the red port. This price difference was not mentioned in advance, leaving us feeling misled. When we brought this to the staff's attention, they did remove the cost of the much cheaper sparkling wine we had for starters and the "bread basket" from the bill. However, the bread basket itself was another disappointment, consisting of just one normal piece of bread each and one piece of special local bread.

Overall, our experience at Digby Restaurant was far from satisfactory. Given the slow service, small portions, and high prices, I cannot recommend this restaurant and will certainly not be returning.

We asked for a table near the view, we were at the back of the restaurant. The service was limited, we asked for bread several times, we waited 15 minutes even though we already had our meals.
The food is good but not worth this price, the meat was full of nerves, I do not recommend this restaurant.
For the same price, you can find better.

As a local baffles me how this place is a 5 star hotel. Booked dinner for 8.30. Arrived at 8.15, asked if could sit at the bar to have some drinks as it was still a bit early for dinner booked. We were about 4 people i the bar area, yet in spite coming to the bar twice, had no drinks, eventually at 8.36 decided to go to the restaurant area, got sat in the restaurant, about 30 mins later after ordering, still no drinks. Had to get up and speak to waiter to complain about no drinks (by then we had been there for about 40 mins!).

This meant that the "surprise" bottle of champagne I wanted to give to my wife for our anniversary, had to be delayed, with me giving hints to the waiter about it.

To make a long store short, very poor service, chef who has no idea about what different levels of cooking meat mean ( meat west sent back twice, still got it wrong, by the 3rd time was just cold tasteless meat.

On top of it, at the end I realised that the bottle of champagne I asked when I booked wasn't the same that I was offered when seated (I foolish agreed, but was already fed up with the poor service, and didn't bother to check if was the one I asked beforehand to be ready at the table when I arrived (which wasn't).

To make a long story short, I don not know about the hotel part, but the restaurant part, it was no where near a 5 star hotel experience, neither the service, or the food, nothing! In fact first time in my home town I had such a poor experience at such a place. Never again.

The best... From the Hotel to the bar/restaurant, with excellent views over the Douro River and the riverside area of Porto and Gaia... Bar/restaurant open to the general public. It is not exclusive to the hotel.

The views are remarkable. To can sit on the patio watching as the sky slowly fades to black and the lights of Porto below start to emerge is second only to a few. The long and short of it is this a hotel restaurant. There were some solidly developed items and some side that are still needing of development. Overall, I’d come here again being drawn in by the vista and stay for a slow savory meal.
