Nice food but expensive. Worth it? Maybe.
Waitress took the order wrong, we asked to correct it, she did correct it but still she made us pay for her mistake: we paid for the item that we did not order. Not nice.
EDIT: Okay, let's make it one star since you chose a lie to handle this instead of an apology.
We got an item we did not order. To not ask you to change it (as a courtesy) we tasted it to see if we can eat it, but we were unable to eat it, as it was not for our taste (not that the dish was bad but it was not something we could eat) and after that we asked to change it. If tasting is ‘eating’ in your book, good luck to you. You are either lying or out of your mind.
Anyway, you are horrible at customer satisfaction. Hence the one star.

My wife and I are visiting from the States and had a very long travel day. We are staying in an airbnb nearby and popped into Early. I am so glad we did! My wife has dairy and gluten intolerances and the staff were understanding and accommodating. The V60 coffee was well worth the price and the food was all well presented and delightful. If you’re looking for a wonderful cafe experience, look no further than Early!
Dietary restrictions: Very accommodating with allergies.

After visiting this cafe, I was sure I should write a review. I was surprised at all the positive reviews, as this is an expensive place, despite the nice bread.
But I want to be fair and offer a genuine review based on our experience.
Firstly, the service was good. Teresa was welcoming, polite and helpful. Five stars. The facilities are pleasant. It seems like a popular place to use your laptop at the window, with a view passers by. It is very clean, and is a nice place overall. We were offered any seats available. Thank you Teresa.
It seems this cafe markets itself as a provider of home baked breads. I took a slice of toast with my cup of tea. The toast arrived as fried soda bread, it was delicious. It was not toast as a UK resident understands, but it was similar to offerings of fried homemade bread that I received from my parents in my youth. The bread was really lovely, and the taste compensated for the fact it had been pan fried, and so was really tasty. I assume different countries have different understandings of toast. This is fair. The "toast" was delicious.
I overheard a customer buying bread, for seven euros. It is here that I felt Early cafe overstretched considerably.
My main caution is price/value. I have enclosed a copy of our bill. I don't believe 13 euros is reasonable for a slice of bread, a cup of tea, a bun and a coffee. I guess when you add 70 cent for milk, and 1.50 for butter it starts to add up. The total price for a slice of buttered toast was 4 euros. I find it strange that Early feels it is fair to charge for some milk for a cup of tea, or for butter for a slice of toast. Again, UK people would appreciate this concern.
There is no doubt that the bread is lovely. We can do with more cafes offering nice bread that is homemade. Well done Early. But this bread was almost exactly the same the homemade bread, baked almost every weekend in our household, during my youth. Given the cost of producing this, I can't see how the price charged seems reasonable.
I leave it for you to judge for yourself. I have included a photo of our receipt. I hope you enjoy your visit, and I'm sure it will be a nice experience. If you are content to pay, then by all means visit. It is pleasant and the server, Teresa, was polite and helpful. However, if you have any mindfulness of value, then you may wish to consider.
The atmosphere is good but we were waiting for 40 minutes for a cold “fried pork” sandwich. One of the receptionists is polite but assertive, saying that it is normal to have fried pork sandwich with the meat cold after waiting for 30 minutes, which I don’t believe is the case. The other receptionist, however, is just purely rude and never apologize, rolling his eyes after letting his client to wait for a cold sandwich for 30 minutes.

One of the best breakfasts we had in Portugal during our tour. The guys are very helpful and nice. There is a lot of choice between sweet, savory and typical dishes.

Unfortunately I faced not pleasant experience having lunch for the second time in Early. Had been waiting my order almost 50 min and then I found hair inside. It would be great if kitchen team will wear the nets on their heads. Idk if I come back again.

This has great reviews but I wasn’t happy at all. It took a long time to get our menu. They were out of many things. I ordered and they warned me it would take too long so I changed my orders. Eggs were too salty, bread was cold with very little butter. I will not go back. It was very busy so obvious ver popular I’m just not a fan.

We had the most incredible brunch at Early! The cosy atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious food made it an absolutely perfect experience! The ingredients were fresh and the food was presented beautifully and tasted incredible. The coffee was good, but the flat white had a bit too much milk – it was more of a cappuccino, and the espresso was more of a ristretto. However, overall, we highly recommend it for anyone seeking a top-notch brunch spot. I'll definitely be back!

I was absolutely blown away by the quality of food here! The attention to detail in the presentation of the food, the prices, and the kindness and excitement of the workers about each meal made the visit my best experience in Porto! Definitely coming back!

I had been looking forward to coming here but left feeling a little disappointed. I wanted to order a Chemex coffee (on the menu) but was actively encouraged to take a Moccamaster, I got the feeling they didn't want to prepare the Chemex. We ordered the Gravad Lax, but it was marinated in beetroot, which neither of us like - surely this should be written on the menu? The service was efficient but not the warmest. Would recommend their sister venue, Rosa Et Al, over this place.

Me and my family stayed in Porto for 4 days (May 2024) and Early was one of our favorite. Their food and selections were tasty and I personally loved their granola plate :)
Highly recommend it :)
