Porto is my new favourite city and Exmo. is my new favourite hotel. Such great service right from booking. We asked for restaurant recommendations and got some great options - two which were booked for us and were great especially Sagardi, The free airport transfer worked really well. Sergio our driver was lovely and friendly. No issues with meeting us at arrivals. Every staff member was warm, welcoming and friendly. This really makes a difference to your stay. We had a nice view out to the square, the room was a good size with plenty of room for suitcases, clothes etc. The bed was comfortable, the pillows a real treat! The room was clean and tidy. And quiet. Breakfast was good. And having the bar on site was handy! It’s just a stone throw from the river, loads of bars and restaurants within an easy walk. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return one day soon. Thank you to all at Exmo. ?
Nice location and pleasant service. Room was clean and attractively decorated but “stuffy” – couldn’t open window or flies would be in the room. TBF there was A/C but would prefer fresh air. The room was dark and the bathroom was tiny. Lost a rating star from me due to lack of hot water in the shower before having to catch an early flight — nothing like a cold shower and no coffee in the morning (too early) to sour the hotel experience. Free pickup at train station was a plus!
Superb location with incredibly friendly staff. The hotel and rooms were exceptionally clean and contemporary in style. The only slight disappointment we had was that we booked a “suite” on the top floor which meant that the room was in the eaves with high windows, which you couldn’t actually see out of. Whilst it was a very large room, I would prefer to have had a smaller room with windows giving a view. There is a second suite on the same floor at the back that has a balcony and views over the river - that looked fabulous (we had a sneaky look when it was being cleaned ready for new arrivals) and I would definitely try and book that if we were to stay again.
Wow! Lovely small hotel with the most cheerful, kind and helpful staff— the building is ancient stone much still exposed- like the wall and kind of cloister window in our room. Location is superb. Perfect breakfasts. Would 100% recommend!
Couldn't find a better location in Porto!!! In the heart of the center, it is just a few steps away from the restaurants and bars area of Ribeira where we can walk and admire the Douro River. It is also a two-minute walk to the São Bento station. Not to mention the modern and cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. The hard part is leaving!
I tormented myself for days trying to find the best hotel in Porto for an affordable price. Enter Exmo. Hotel. Exmo is beautifully designed and feels modern and luxurious. The rooms are a respectable size - with beautiful shuttered windows that overlook the river. (Side note - it was a little weird to have a window that looked into the bathroom shower without any option for a screen/shade. So.. just be aware of that in case you're traveling with family or a friend). That said, it was wonderful to hear the hustle and bustle along the river outside before bed night, and walk just 2 minutes to experience the bustle next day. Location wise, Exmo was perfect. We loved being able to walk right around the corner and dine at any number of restaurants overlooking the river! It was also a short 15-20 minute walk from the major sights. Service was very accommodating and friendly. The room and hotel itself was exceptionally clean and spotless.
I am glad to give another (67th) excellent review for this hotel. We stayed 2 nights..lovely time to visit Porto. Location couldn't have been better. Hotel is slightly small but adequate and they more than made up for it with excellent service and amenities. The staff were super helpful and friendly. Can't really add more to what has already been said. Would love to stay here again.
My husband and I stayed 3 nights in April - travelers from NJ in US. We came to Porto after 4 nights in Lisbon (super easy to take the high speed train - 3 hours - super cheap). EXMO is an outstanding hotel. ROOMS: Rooms were small, but perfectly fine for what we needed and were exactly as advertised. Minimalist/sleek design. Bathroom was nice sized, great shower pressure. OMG the bed was comfortable (we had the 2 twins together) with amazing linens. Room included tea and tea kettle, comp botted still water, some bottled items in the fridge. Great smelling amenity lotion (hey, I had run out, so this was a big deal!). F&B: We had the breakfast buffet each day, was very nice. Includes eggs if you want them. Nice selection of items and includes upgraded coffee (latte, etc). We didn't opt for anything during the evening hours, but there is a nice selection of wines. Great added touch was a welcome drink upon check in ! AREA: Perfect location. One block from river, but is a really quiet hotel. A couple of fantastic wine bars in walking distance, and the best gelato I've ever had (including those in Italy). Super easy to walk everywhere, but there is also great availability of Bolts in the area. OTHER: Staff is super helpful and friendly, gave us outstanding restaurant recommendations. My last minute request for an extended check out by 30 minutes was accommodated. Felt super safe in the area. Absolutely would stay again, without hesitation. Great location, good value for my money, lovely staff.
Gorgeous hotel in the best location in Porto. Beautifully designed rooms with huge beds and great views! Lovely breakfast included and the staff were very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Would def recommend.

This is a sleek and well-designed boutique hotel, it was a real pleasure to stay here. From the moment we were welcomed, nothing was too much for the friendly staff. There are just sixteen rooms, so very cosy feel. My room was clean, stylish and comfortable. The breakfast was an excellent choice of cooked and cold. The location could not be more central just on Dom Henrique square but not too noisy at night. Highly recommended!
So glad we picked this place for our stay in Porto. While the rooms are not especially large, they are sparkling clean and beautifully appointed in a very modern yet comfortable style. More importantly, from the minute we walked in the front door, desk agent Bruna went out of her way to make us feel welcome, and to assist us with dinner suggestions and shopping recommendations. Her graciousness and sense of humor ensured a wonderful stay! PS: pick a room with a French balcony on the front of the hotel. I loved the view!!
What a beautiful hotel! Everything about it was more than I expected. Communication on email was prompt. They arranged a pickup from the airport for us with a private transfer. The physical elements of the hotel were so unique. The breakfast area is also a small bar area. Very comfortable. Check out the circular/spiral stairwell. The doors to the room are seamless ( interfaced). So slick. Our south facing room on the 2nd floor looked out towards Gaia and over to the monastery. What a great nighttime view. If you want to open window you can and look over a stone museum , or close it up and draw the blackout curtains. AC good… Only works if window closed ( smart thinking owner). Absolutely no noise on this side. The sheets were Portuguese ..super soft. Two types of pillows. I wanted to take them home. Here you get bath sheets, hand towels and face cloths. All amenities as well. Still and sparkling water and cola replaced daily if needed. Breakfast as wonderful..meats, cheeses, fruit, juice, croissants, bread, buns, granola, eggs, bacon..etc. The staff of the hotel were so accommodating. Dinner suggestions, great conversation, serving wine, beer, lattes. Nothing too much trouble. A very intimate hotel…loved our stay!
We really enjoyed the convenience of this location. The river area was one block down and we were close to the pedestrian bridge to Gaia, and uphill were shops , reaturants and historical buildings. The room was comfortable, the staff very kind and helpful. The location is on a main thoroughfare and at major interection, so it can get noisy, even into the night when everyone is out and about. If possible, try to get an upper room. The free breakfasts were excellent, but there are no other meals served there, so you'll have to eat dinner elsewhere. Ask the staff to make reservations, since restaurants fill up quickly. There is no pool or outdoor terrace or balcony. If you like to walk through town, this is a good place to stay.
This sweet hotel is small and well located. The furnishings are gorgeous. All of that was made even better by the great staff that said, YES to any request for help--AND--they followed through! Nadia and Bruna were so dedicated and professional--always pleasant. We wish they were working at every hotel! Our whole group was large--about 15--and they made all of us feel as though we were the only guests there. They remembered all of our names right away in this 3 night stay!
