The overall experience is ok, but there's a lot to improve. After going to similar restaurants (i.e. Omakase Ri in Lisbon) or even comparing it with real Izakayas in Japan, I have to confess they have a lot to do in terms of receiving guest, turning the meal into an experience, keep the environment (sushimans talk loudly to the costumers they are serving at a specific moment) and maintain food rounds in a carrousel of flavours that starts smooth and end up blowing minds. I find the 65euros menu price acceptable, but probably i would get out hangry if they wouldn't had served bread along with the last course before desert - furthermore, at the initial approach in the restaurant they talk a lot about such a bread, elevating the expectations, but it end ups being a bit of a disapointment. I also have to say their kind of Izakaya was overall really good as they manage quite well the "spicy" and "salty" flavours that are not so common in Japanese cousine. Congrats for the innovation but please revise house rules and guest service. Cheers

We really liked the food (especially the dessert!), but the atmosphere was slightly uncomfortable, it was so formal and cold.

A bit out of the city centre, but such a gem! Great and delicious omakase experience with Portuguese influences. Highly recommend!

Excellent, in everything. The omakase menu is worth it for a first visit but the entire menu left me curious. Good quality fish and highly respected, elevated with other very well crafted products. Attentive service. It made me miss Japan.

Kaigi is my absolute favorite place to eat in all of Porto.
Consistency is key and they nail it every. single. time!

The dishes rotate to highlight the seasonal availability so dining here is always a unique experience.

Be sure to ask for the Hokkaido Roll. It's a little secret item that you won't regret!

Intimate experience, with a different concept of combining Japanese and Portuguese cuisine and having a “tasca”. I made omakaze, super delicious food. I highly recommend it for the experience and service. Products and high quality.

Honest opinion: a little overpriced, but it was an experience. I know that the concept of gratuity is entering Portugal but it should not be questioned at the time of payment, nor should a percentage be suggested. The Portuguese don't have this habit.

100% recommend ?????The chef described the restaurant as an Izakaya fusion of Japan and Portugal. This, and another izakaya near Parque das Aguas, are tied for best izakaya in Portugal.Absolutely creative cuisine, full of flavors and seasonality. You may not eat the same thing on a future visit, so savor every bite. Most seats are around the bar (plus 1 actual 4 top table in a corner). Setup is a 12 or 14 course meal composed of single bite presentations, soup, dessert. Drinks extra. Plan on 70 - 100 per person with drinks.

Very tasty food! Kaigi presents a mix of Japanese food with a Portuguese twist. Which produces very surprising combinations and works of art. Worthy of a Michelin star!

We opted for the omakase menu, but it was definitely a disappointment. In practically all the pieces, the only flavor that stood out was wasabi, while everything else was practically neutral/flavorless. Combined with the high price, very little quantity of food (we left hungry), the delay in service (sometimes we ate 1 piece every 20 minutes) and the poor explanation of what each element was, it is impossible to recommend this omakase experience. We have already tried some of these experiences in traditionally Japanese restaurants and this was without a doubt the worst.

Excellent concept of a Japanese fusion with local cuisine. A relaxed izakaya-style environment, where dishes are prepared with due attention, flavor, and delicacy, down to the smallest detail. A pearl of the city of Porto.
