Great bar, friendly staff and wonderful atmosphere. The food looked very good, but this time we only had coffee, tea and homemade organic apple juice wich was perfect.

Wonderful food with careful service. Weird spot for a restaurant with the current construction, but worth the trip over. Prices were very reasonable and the menu was very catering for vegetarian and vegan eaters

Great meal and very warm people, including the chef. As a solo traveler, it sometimes feels awkward to go into a restaurant alone, but everyone was super warm and welcoming, and the food & sake were DELICIOUS. I loved the Karaage, Agedashi Tofu, Squid, and Wakame salad. The restaurant filled up very quickly, and I had a great time here ?

Everything fantastic! Absolutely not classic Japanese, but a place that mixes Japanese tradition (including chefs) and innovation. Nice environment!

It's always nice to have a quick dinner at Out to Lunch Izakaya when we crave Japanese flavours. There are only a couple of restaurants in Porto that are owned by a Japanese chef and Out to Izakaya is one of them.
They offer a different menu than what you can get in any other Japanese restaurant in Porto. Small plates, a few deep fried options, some cocktails and no sushi (as of July 2024).
They have been operating as a permanent pop up restaurant 3 days a week where Época is located for the past 2 years and we've been thrilled to hear that soon they will open their own restaurant! The owners are super nice and the food is consistently good. Our favourite dish is the eggplant (Nasu Miso Dengaku), so smooth and tasty and thankfully we can find it on the week's specials each time we get there!
I'd highly recommend Out to lunch Izakaya, especially for those living in Porto and looking for something different than the usual Portuguese fare.

The food was really nice! I think this was the best salmon I’ve ever had. Also the cucumber and wakame was really great. Just a lot of eye to detail in general in taste and presentation.
Thanks!

You can enjoy standard Japanese food and obanzai in a good way. They also serve sake, highballs, and Kirin beer, so you can enjoy it purely as an izakaya.
The number of seats is limited, so advance reservations are recommended!

The place is a bit poorly located, on a street with abandoned shops (?).
The staff is very nice.
The food is good but, being used to Japanese food, we found that some dishes lacked taste. Also, the portions are small compared to the price.
Otherwise good experience.

I can confidently say it was one of the best meals of my life. A little piece of Japan in Porto, the menu is made up of an ordinary part and a part dedicated to the specials of the week. The service is impeccable and attentive to the customer. It is possible to enjoy many vegetarian choices and a nice selection of drinks and cocktails typical of the Japanese tradition. Mandatory to stop by if you are in Porto!
