Disappointing. After reading good reviews for Duque Restaurant we went with high expectations. Unfortunately we received an indifferent welcome, wait staff looked and acted as though they didn't want to be there, and the food and wine were very ordinary. Won't be back.

It was our first night in Lisbon, after arriving from the States a few hours earlier. We had no energy to research restaurants nor to wander more than a few blocks from our hotel. The hotel receptionist recommended Duque, which was just down the street from our lodgings. Arriving at the restaurant, I noted menus posted in Portuguese, English, French, and Italian, and my heart sank a bit as that's usually a sign of a "tourist trap." But no matter, as I said, we had no energy to look further, so we proceeded in the door, and we were so glad that we did. We were greeted promptly & warmly, and immediately shown to a table, despite our lack of reservations. To start, we ordered the couvert, as well as the Caldo Verde soup for my husband and a green salad for me; the latter was not on the menu but I asked if one was available & told that it was. For the main course, my husband had the Oven Roasted Octupus & I ordered the Roast Salmon. All of the food was well prepared and the service could not have been more friendly or attentive. My husband's napkin slid off his lap onto the floor; our waitress noticed & brought him a clean napkin before he had a chance to ask -- something you'd expect at a "fine" restaurant but not necessarily one that is this casual. Looking around the room, it was clear that the restaurant is very "tourist friendly," though not a "tourist trap." I doubt that there was a single Portuguese patron there, though plenty of Americans, British, and Germans. So, if you are bent on finding an obscure "hole-in-the-wall" that is undiscovered by other visitors, that's not Duque. But Duque is perfect if you are seeking well-prepared Portuguese food at a moderate price, in a welcoming, convivial atmosphere.

Everything was very delicious, the bread was excellent for the starters. The prawns was the best here altough we tried it in several places.

Duque restaurant was recommended by our apartment host and didn't disappoint. They have at least three different premises along Rua do Duque; we asked for a table for 5 and were walked down the road until we got to the one with space. Great food - we had grilled fish, chicken salad and mushroom risotto between us; friendly service and a lovely atmosphere. The deserts served in jam jars were fun too!

We were in the area having a beer and its kind of hard finding somewhere decent to eat as so many tourist restaurants. But this place looked kind of different and intimate. We went there at 5.45 and they didn't open until 6 but happy for us to take a table and have a drink first. The place filled up quickly, often a good sign. We had the delicious green wine on tap and its kind of bubbly which we loved and really cheap. The food was really superb, marvellous service. One minor quibble, the ceviche for starters could have had more fish in it, but the chickpeas in it were different and delicious. How good was it? Well if we'd be staying longer in Lisbon, we would 100% have come back.

Quaint & Delicious. Down a steep hill, around the corner, but worth every step, goat cheese cigar, duck, seafood rice, dessert in a jar...don't miss

Excellent local restaurant with reasonable prices and very good traditional Portuguese food. I had the grilled sardines, which weren’t on the menu but were available on request. My wife had a vegetable streudle, which she loved. Service fast and friendly, and excellent local vino verde. Recommended!

The food was very good with a nice selection of fresh fish and the prices were reasonable by US standards. However, we felt rushed, and with a steady background stream of Simon and Garfunkel, Elton John, Billy, Joel, etc., were we really in a European restaurant? Overall, a very good meal. Make a reservation.
