We chose the 6 course (winter) set menu. We were taken on a culinary journey of inventive, unique, and incredibly well balanced dishes. This is some of the finest vegan food we have eaten (and we love to visit the fanciest vegan restaurants we can find). The atmosphere was incredibly relaxed, and pleasantly casual. All of the staff were charming, and really tried their hardest to ensure we enjoyed our experience, and informed us in detail how each dish was composed. We also enjoyed the Kombucha's on offer. My only complaint (to the disagreement of my girlfriend) is that each dish could have been ever so slightly bigger (and I mean literally like, 10% - 15% larger) - I absolutely was satisfied, I just enjoyed it all so much it would have been great if each course had a mouthful more!
Inventive food, delicious flavours, one of the best desserts I've had in my life!
Gorgeous plates of fresh, seasonal, local ingredients. Friendly service. Good price for lunch combo. Updated from previous review on 2025-12-22
We had such a wonderful experience at Venn Canteen during our stay in Porto. The flavor combinations in every dish were truly outstanding creative, balanced, and absolutely delicious. We were impressed by how thoughtfully each plate was put together. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, but what really made our visit exceptional was the kindness of the staff. The waitress and the rest of the team were incredibly sweet with our dogs, immediately offering them fresh water and little vegan snacks. Since our dogs are vegan like us, we appreciated this attention more than words can say. It’s rare to find a place that cares equally for humans and animals. We left with full hearts and full stomachs. Highly recommended for anyone seeking great vegan food and genuine hospitality!
Very balanced and delicious meal with a sort of "home made" touch. A bit more expensive than perhaps the average but nothing to extreme for an ocassional visit. I recommend it!
Frankly I was expecting a lot more given the reviews to this place. Or at the very least, I was expecting everything to taste okay, but there were a couple of items that were straight up unpalatable. And this is not just my sole opinion, my girlfriend could also not finish the same two dishes. This applies to the NA pairing as well. They gave us two mocktails and two NA wines. One mocktail was pretty decent, the other was just okay, but the NA wines almost tasted like vinegar. I know the menu is changing all the time and maybe we just got unlucky, but I would much rather have tried a different place in our limited time in Porto. At the very least anything else would've been cheaper and more filling.
Very creative cuisine, small works of art are created on the plate. Prices are upscale for Portugal, but in Hamburg you pay twice as much.
So with the first dish I was quite disappointed - I mean it was tasty but for the price…I was expecting much more. The next one was pretty good and really the mix of flavours I haven’t tried yet. However, I still would be honestly a bit salty if it wasn’t for the desserts. So if you’re seeking near to fine dining experience for a date or sth - highly recommend it. If you simply want to spend your last euros on something you won’t forget -there are better places in Porto. Updated from previous review on 2025-09-27
This is the best vegan restaurant nowadays. The food is amazing and dishes look stunning. The place is cozy and warm as well as the staff. They have a seasonal menu that changes during the year but dishes always look for balance and detail. It's just wonderful! If you are in Porto and you want to try an amazing vegan meal look no further.
I went to have dinner with my mom and we had a wonderful experience. The flavors were great and the pairings quite bold. It was also nice that they include some local produce as for example acorn and carob. Beautiful cooking, lovely staff, great concept. A must!

We had a very nice dining experience here, the staff was extremely engaged and would elaborate on each dish that was served. I had the three course tasting menu, my GF had the rice cracker main dish. Overall, though I think it was nice, it is not something I would do more than once. Sometimes I thought that while the dishes were creative, there was not a strong taste. They tasted "too healthy" almost. BUT. The food was still very good, and I would recommend checking it out
Super nice stuff people, that were explaining the concept and everything Had two menus for two people(as it was my Birthday) So 4 dishes for each to try (3 of which were accompanied by different cold drinks, it was nice, that they had non alcoholic options) Portions as in fancy dining, on the smaller side The food and drinks are as much sustainable as possible Interesting that we got beetroot hibiscus ravioli and the other dish was with buckwheat with walnuts in the cabbage leaf which are exactly the same sensations as classics, where we come from-Eastern Europe. That's something that we would've considered as our perfect breakfast and lunch flavours. The most flavorful were oystermuchrooms with salad and fennel sorbet was definitely the most intense and surprising to us, which I loved Every dish is focusing on one subject, for example -beetroot Simple, but good:) All together was 110€
This is close to my idea of the perfect restaurant. I've been in Portugal and Spain for the last 2-3 weeks and this is the best food I had so far, for sure. It rivalled other favourite meals from e.g. London. In particular the crispy rice dish and mushrooms were amazing. I nearly didn't order mushroom as I thought it would be 'just another mushroom dish ' but it was very unique with a sweet glaze and delicious herby salad. Lots of pickles on the plates too, which I love. They make their own lentil tofu which was interesting (tasty enough for me, who will eat raw tofu out the packet) and served with tasty pickled stems and dashi broth. I would have ordered more plates and the bread couvert etc but I was dining alone. Tasting menu seems to have had price increase compared to online- but still good value for the quality of food: currently set menu 30€ 3 plates or 38€ 4 plates with discounted dessert 5€. Wines looked good too and there is a pairing option and even a non alcoholic aperitif pairing option! Love it
Me and my wife were coming after watching sunset by the beach and ordered romantic table for two, right before 2130 we arrived. We were surprised, eating the four course dinner would change our lives, the food was stimulating our taste-buds in such a way we travelled far with each bite and it was like a lovely dream. Thank you Venn(which means friend in Norwegian) for uplifting our souls and let us fly on your culinary wings to heaven! ❤️❤️
Really delicious, flavorful food. All of it is plant based and small plates (recommendation is to order 3-4 per person). Staff explained it all very well, and they even gave great suggestions for wine pairing. Definitely worth making a reservation!
