Velvet is a top-notch restaurant that offers exceptional sushi and 5-star service. Located inside the Póvoa de Varzim fortress, it features partial views of the sea, especially from the terrace. The fish is always fresh and expertly prepared, making it a must-visit for sushi lovers. The menu includes bespoke and flavorful dishes, with great recommendations from the friendly staff, who are attentive and can explain the characteristics of the different pieces of sushi. The gin pairings are refreshing and enjoyable, and while some dishes may have room for improvement, the matcha cake with passion fruit and mango is a standout dessert. The atmosphere is pleasant, with well-decorated surroundings and ambient music at the ideal volume. Although parking can be difficult on the street, there are several car parks nearby, including the pier park in front of the fortress. Great experience at an affordable price makes Velvet a recommended destination for all.
