“A true gem. The food is excellent, and despite eating there many times I have yet to be disappointed. The food is traditional and home cooked in true Azorean Style. Brilliant. Very popular with the local residents, which is always a good sign. It can get very busy, but service is always fast and welcoming. You will need some fundamental Portuguese, as this is not a typical tourist destination. A typical dish of the day, including martini to start, main course, bread, carafe of wine, coffee and brandy to finish comes in at under 10 Euros. Just having food with a beer will be very reasonable.“

Here now as I type, group of 9, from children up to grandparents - something for everyone - genuinely great atmosphere, lovely, lovely staff, barely a mouthful left on any plate - everybody happy and full.

“Food very good, prices great, friendly staff, only disadvantage you have to order and pay for food and drinks first, if you want something else you have to queue again, food is brought to the table (outside) on the other side of the street. Order exactly the same thing inside and pay at the counter.“

“It is the most famous place in Horta and rightly so.
Unique atmosphere with flags and objects of shipping companies, great food with local products and fast service.

Reservations are recommended because they are always very full, but if you're lucky you can get on the waiting list to be called.

“It takes some getting used to at the beginning because life on the island is simply different, but the staff is very hardworking and makes an effort. You can make food, it's just not a 5 star restaurant. But all in all very comfortable.“
