Restaurant was almost empty when we arrived. The greeting basically didn't take place, only when asked. I asked for a quiet table. Answer: Children are most welcome. Alright. It's interesting to be greeted like this in one of the most exclusive restaurants in the area. We changed and sat and ate easily and very comfortably at Casa Do Lago.

I came from Lisbon for a week's vacation. A friend from Algarve recommended me to this restaurant. I like its environment very much. It is very clean, like a five-star hotel. First of all, the team is very polite, as if they have received professional training, and the food is very exquisite and innovative, as if it has been carefully designed and developed. I like it very much. And this restaurant has very professional wines, including French champagne, port wine, and Portuguese wine. I was very happy to buy a bottle of Taylor's 1997 port wine, which is almost out of print. On the second day, I came to this restaurant again and ate almost the entire menu in two days. It was great. On the second day, I was given a glass of 2016 port wine. I will recommend it to my friends.

We discovered the new concept of casa velha tonight. We’ve been going to the restaurant for over 20 years. unfortunately the first experience wasn’t as we would have liked it.Some very nice waiters, and some other pushy ones felling up the glaces non stop when water and wine were still quite full.Asking for advice They told us to take 2 to 3 dishes per person to share but they told us when ordering if it was too much or not enough. The waitress said is was the right amount. We were 4 and we had 3 “starters” and 5 “mains” and one vegetable dish all to share.We had too much .. and could not finish the last 3 plates. May be some people eat more that’s quite possible ! but we find the food wasn’t refined enough for the price.. it was all very heavy and not enough freshness in most of the plates.When asking the bill the waiter gave it to us and stayed behind me the whole time I was having a look if it was correct. Which unfortunately it wasn’t. 2 glaces of wine were added (24€)(this all in Portuguese so I wanted to make sure it was correct) when we said it was a mistake he disappeared and came back saying they where taken of. No apologies …Hopefully other people have a better first experiences !

We love this restaurant. It now has a traditional Portuguese menu with a modern twist / a sharing plates concept. Great value for money and really amazing food.All of the staff were also friendly and helped ensure we has a wonderful evening out.We will certainly be back.
