Arrived at the bold octopus, were seated and asked if we would like water, which we agreed to. However, we were sat waiting for 20 minutes for the water as well as for a food and drinks order. Only upon asking was our order taken (we also had to ask for the water again). The starters were fine. Having chosen the octopus for main, it was massively underwhelming as it was burnt to a crisp and overly chewy which is disappointing for a signature dish. The sea bass too had an absurd amount of cheese in. Considering my family and I come to vale do lobo every summer and it had been raved to us about, it wouldn’t be a restaurant I’d recommend and shall not be returning.

*This review is for drinks on the terrace only* Nice location however the waiter overdid it massively with mint for one of our mojito cocktails which made it bright green and unbearable to drink. A waiter recognised this and came to take it away advising he saw the bartender add too much mint, however we’d expect the standards of drinks to be better than this before being handed to customers. Especially for the price. Also wear insect repellent as everyone on the terrace was eaten alive!!

I’ve been coming here regularly for the last 3 years. It’s always been pretty good but yesterday was just superb. Fabulous prawns, great steak, lovely chocolate cake. All matched with really friendly service and of course great views over the beach to the sea. Nice atmosphere and vibe. The place to beat this summer?
Parking: Parking is free for most of the year but paid from beginning of June till end September.

We had a brilliant time, four of us, at the Bold Octopus. We began by eating food on the terrace downstairs, we had fish tacos, ceasar salad and Seabass Risotto and all of it was delicious! We then moved upstairs for drinks on the roof terrace. Raj did a great job of keeping our sangria topped up and putting the umbrella up and down for us as we needed shade. Thank you Raj for your patience and great service!
Dropped in for a impromptu lunch and had a fantastic time. The service and food were exceptional. But the live music was a super bonus. Wasn't expecting that. Highly recommend.

Absolutely brilliant! Excellent food, stunning location with wonderful views, and fantastic with kids. Staff were accommodating with food allergies.Easily the best restaurant we tried in the area. So good that we returned on the final day of our stay! 5*
Kid-friendliness: The staff were SO friendly towards our children and really made an effort to interact with them. At no point did we feel that our noise / mess (!) was unwelcome. A really positive family dining experience
