A place to discover, full of history. Incredible visit with Beatriz, who was kind enough to do it for just one person.

With a weekend dedicated to getting to know Reguengos de Monsaraz, we decided to visit Adega José da Fonseca, scheduling a visit with a tasting of 3 wines and regional products. The space is very beautiful and is quite well preserved. It is very interesting to have the opportunity to learn about more traditional production methods and to have the opportunity to see them. We consider that the visit was not extremely interesting, largely due to the way in which the guide's knowledge was conveyed. We ended up getting the feeling that it was like a memorized text (which we could have read on the internet) and that it was just being written in an almost robotic and not very interactive/dynamic way. It was a very distant and cold visit that was not captivating, and we left with the feeling that it was time to "send it off". Regarding the test, we also considered that regional products were unnecessary, mainlythe cheese is already very dry from being open. We also didn't understand what sausages we were eating (what they were, where from, etc.) as there was no explanation. In short, the space is spectacular but the visit leaves something to be desired and is not worth €46 for two people.

We went with a small group of friends and family, visiting wineries in the region from a base in Evora. This place specializes in classic wines aged in clay amphora, seriously Old School. The tour of the winery was very nice and fun, and tasting after was great. We all enjoyed trying the wines and the people were sincerely welcoming and hospitable.

We visited this space on Sunday, at 5 pm. The guide Lígia who welcomed us, made an excellent presentation of the José de Sousa winery. This winery was acquired by the José Maria Fonseca group in 1986. In addition to the explanation of the entire production process of young white and red wines, we were also elucidated on the different aging processes of the wine in carvings and in American and French oak barrels. It was possible to observe the pottery pots, where pot wine is produced. At the end, the tasting of 3 young wines Monte da Ribeira (white and red) and José de Sousa (red with aging in carving). I recommend.

We scheduled the visit directly with the winery for 3pm. We traveled far for this purpose. Almost arriving (2:50 pm) we were contacted informing that we could only have the visit in English as they had accepted another group.... we ended up not carrying out the visit....
The lack of professionalism and discrimination towards Portuguese tourists is regrettable.

Very pleasant visit. The guide Sofia is very friendly and knew how to convey the history and daily life of the winery very clearly ?

I visited the store, excellent wines, very friendly and the winery's facilities are very pleasant, with a distinctly Alentejo look.

We visited the winery on a rainy Friday. We were not familiar with butcher's wine and were warmly welcomed by the guide Lígia who promptly clarified all our doubts about the local production method, both the newer/industrial and the traditional, inside the talhas. The visit culminated with the Premium wine tasting, which allowed us to taste three blends with different percentages of the latter. All the rooms in this winery located in the center of Reguengos had a unique and welcoming atmosphere.

Interesting winery, with a good story to tell. We visited Adega José de Sousa for a wine tasting and to learn more about the production of the same wines. The visit was pleasant and the guide was very friendly and had a very understandable way of explaining the content. In the end, we went to the testing room, which made the journey back a little less interesting and a little unpleasant as the room was quite cold. We had chosen the package of three wines accompanied by sausage and cheese tapas. Sausages are dispensable. Perhaps it would have been much more interesting if, during the tour of the winery, there had been checkpoints where the wines could be tasted. As we listened to the history or methods of how wine is made, we tasted the same, which would have a more distinct flavor.
