Read all the reviews that state it’s a rip-off. It’s all true. They should be ashamed to be representative of the hardworking honest people in Portugal

Please avoid this establishment. The meal we had was salty and when we complained to the owner/manager she was very rude. On presentation of our bill it was obvious we had been overcharged and when we questioned the the bill the owner became dismissive of use. Please read the negative reviews about this so called restaurant before you go and avoid at all costs. The vast majority of the reviews are negative and I would question the positive one. It's my opinion that this restaurant is deliberately ripping off tourists.

Please beware of this restaurant. My wife and I had a meal at this establishment consisting of 2 mains at 25 euro each, breads for starters and to drink a half bottle of red wine and a soft drink. The bill came to 128 euro. You don't get the bill to the table instead you are told to go to the register to collect it. When I produced a card to make payment the owner barked at me asking if I had cash. She then tried to sell me CD's of her music LOL.. The food was luke warm at best, meat was salty and vegetables uneatable. Please please please avoid. We passed by the restaurant the next evening and the waiter who served our table was standing outside and he couldn't even look me in the eye as we passed. He obviously knew the type of establishment he worked for, and to be fair it wasn't his fault the owner an elderly woman in her seventies seemed to run the place with an iron fist. Anyway I had to write this as I don't want people to be ripped off. Plenty of nice places to eat at half the price that serve quality food.

Authentic restaurant with great singing and ambiance - the real Portuguese experience. Go for the experience of the traditional singing.

I've been here 3 times now. Have not had a bad experience yet. Great service, excellent food and a beautiful restaurant.

The Fado entertainment was Fantastic!!!, the service was fantastic!! The dinner we had was pleasant. It was expensive, but in my opinion worth it. Because the Fado has been my favourite Lisbon experience so far.

The food was exceptional, each dish presented beautifully and bursting with flavor. But perhaps the highlight of the evening was the breathtaking view from our table, adding to the overall ambiance and making it a truly unforgettable dining experience. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an unforgettable evening of fine dining.

This restaurant offers a very nice tasting menu with the desserts being the highlight of the meal. The wine pairing is good and the ambiance is nice, especially with the great view. However, the service could use some improvement as it was slow in refilling drinks and checking on customers. Additionally, the waitstaff was not especially friendly and came across as borderline judgmental. Despite this, the overall experience was still enjoyable due to the delicious food and pleasant atmosphere.

Thanks for being dog-friendly and for serving so many vegan options. I had a shepherd less pie and mash and was great (just very tiny, so I would recommend ordering some sides as well). The restaurant has beautiful decoration and the staff is friendly. It's great for dinner with friends or a date. The outside area is great too.

I have written this review in the hope that other tourists do not get scammed. Be careful as it is the first Fado bar you see if you take a taxi to Alfama. A friendly looking, middle aged lady stands outside to welcome you in, we were 4 couples who told her we just wanted a drink. We went down into the pokey restaurant and immediately knew that we would definitely just have one drink, then go elsewhere. We listened to 4 awful songs, then asked for the bill. 160 euros!!! We explained that there had been a mistake as we had only had 4 small bottles of beer and 4 shorts but were then told there is a cover charge of 20 euros per person for the “music”!! I see from previous reviews that this cover charge has increased from 10 euros! We explained that we had only been there for 15 minutes and had told the lady outside that we only wanted a drink but the owner (and dodgy singer) is quite clearly used to bill issues! We should have refused to pay, however it was the last night of our stay in Lisbon, we didn’t want a scene, so just put it down to a very bad experience! I really hope this review prevents others from being ripped off too.

Bland cold food laden with salt, served by miserable waitress/ singer. This place has to be one of the worst restaurants in Portugal! We was harangued from the moment we stepped out of the taxi by a guy, who we later found out doubled as a singer, grabbed our attention and told us to come in with a promise of great food and entertainment. I on one hand wanted to venture up a bitterly cold medieval street, hoping to find a quaint Portuguese restaurant, my friend on the other hand wanted to escape the icicles that were forming on the end of his nose - yes, it was that cold. We had no choice but to be guided by this man, especially as he hung both arms out to make the well know international sign for all other restaurants are closed! We entered to a dimly lit - we should have know better, restaurant, with all guests wearing Northern European type big winter coats. We sat down on very hard uncomfortable chairs, and a table with a paper napkin strewn over the table as a makeshift table cloth. No sooner had we sat down, we was greeted by a waitress, although to the untrained eye she could have been another patron. We placed our order and waited anxiously. Our starter arrived - a shared assortment of hard stale breads, 2 small packets of butter - the type you get from a Jacket Potato vendor on a British high street and a plate of ham and 3 slices of goats cheese, ohh and a small plate of olives. The singing started, I’m sure it was a form of Portuguese folk music, athough I could be wrong. Towards the end of the singing, 15 mins later, our mains arrived, my friend ordered steak and chips with salad and for myself I went for potatoes with clams and pork in a tomato sauce. Both meals were lukewarm warm at best, the potatoes tasked as though they had been reheated - rubbery and bland laden with salt, and my friends was no better. The grated salad looked limp and sad. We ate it reluctantly and drank our small bottle of Super Bock beer. We left soon after we’d told the waitress no to dessert - she seemed surprised. This lacklustre experience left us €100 out of pocket. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy…

They overcharged us for sure! Hand written bill where you cannot understand anything. I thought following the menu that our bill should had been around 100 €. Instead we got a 150€ check. The music was good, but not fantastic.

Overcharged us by 65E with illegible hand written receipts. Had to insist that they provide a printed receipt to see the bill to see how much we had been conned by. Not easy getting our money back. Fado finished at 10, way too early. Food average.
