“Very nice food ?, I loved ? the sirloin steak it was very good. Also the grilled tuna ? was nice and a yummy Caprese salad ? with it. The staff were very friendly. But the best part of it was the dessert ?? I had the coconut pannacota ? and the others had a lemon pie??. It was deeeelicous! I would love to come back again! Thats why it deserves 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐+1 ??“

“It was the first time I tasted deer chanfana, it was possibly the best gastronomic experience I've ever had. We made a reservation, service took a while because the room was full, but I can say it was worth it. The desserts are also very good.
Parking: Plenty of street parking next to the hotel and restaurant“
“For the third time and it does not disappoint.
Perhaps they would propose a greater variety of wines to further enhance their very good cuisine.
Prior reservation required.
I recommend experience, still very genuine, with personality.
It's a food house, don't expect a restaurant.
Pets not allowed and I don't usually go to these types of establishments. In this case I made an exception, but please reconsider because their behavior is usually better than that of some children.“

“We reserved a table at "1896" during our vacation to celebrate our engagement. The Google reviews about this restaurant and also the recommendations we received locally for the "1896" are really no exaggeration. We enjoyed a wonderful evening with exquisite cuisine (classic 3-course menu) and excellent and very attentive service. Many thanks for the wonderful evening to the whole team at "1896".“

“Some of the most amazing Portuguese I’ve had. We were a big group sharing two sirloin steaks, the salmon and mango dish, beans, rice and potatoes. All the flavours combined delightfully and all the meat and local veg are produced organically within the valley. Great place for a casual dinner and a great homely vibe.“
“A tasty five-course meal with generous house wine, grappa and port, topped off with a brief cultural tour.
A cheese & bread starter was followed by seafood empadas, carrot soup and a meat stew, then a mix of Portuguese desserts, including an egg custard, poached pear and chocolate cake.
There was a short history of the vineyard and a little bit of time to walk around the beautiful gardens with excellent fountains and views over the vineyards.“

“Restaurant with spectacular views, very good food but it lacks a touch to make it even better. Some prices are within normal limits, but others are below expectations for the quantity of food related to the quality-price issue. However, I recommend paying a visit as there are more good things“
“We had a gorgeous meal here tonight, in a restaurant seemingly full of locals. The food was good quality local food, so really good fish (we had sea bass and a stew of shrimps and bread). Starters were good too, a fresh salad and a stuffed mushroom dish. The setting is nice, clean and modern, and the staff were great, including a waiter who spoke excellent English which we appreciated. We were really glad to have stepped out of our hotel and found this restaurant.“

“Good restaurant, food is very delicious and available in sufficient quantity. Service is easily overwhelmed and therefore you may have to wait longer.
Ambience is nothing special.
Wheelchair accessibility: Fairly accessible by wheelchair“
“Great place to have an authentic meal at a tremendous price. Be forewarned though, go hungry and don’t plan on eating anything other than a snack for supper. It cost 22 euros and it was well worth every cent. It’s a set menu so just enjoy yourself and watch the dishes arrive. Wine and port are included. So is dessert and coffee.“

“A typical Portuguese restaurant but with a touch of refinement and extra flavor. A great gastronomic experience to try in Alijó. We ordered the house steak and pork cheeks and everything was wonderful and full of flavor. The meat was tender and juicy. The mushroom soup is delicious! For dessert, a tasty chocolate mousse, a canilla de leche cream with ice cream and an excellent olive oil pudding. I recommend trying them all. A pleasant experience to repeat.“

“We went in by chance because it was one of the few that was open, and how lucky we were because we repeated the next day. Good food, generous portions and very friendly staff. To highlight the cod with crumbs, the tuna salad with feijao fradinho, and for dessert, the bolo da regiao, spectacular“

“Very pleasant, airy and clean space.
Friendly staff but a little more empathy would be nice.
Food with good flavor, quantity but a little cold.
They should wait for the customer to finish the soup before serving the dish.
Price in line with current prices: €8 without dessert.“

“Quaint little family eatery. Got their set with garlic bread, veal and a water. They threw in a free glass of wine when they found out the country I'm from.Other tables also really enjoyed their meals and I would try to come back if I could to try more of their items“

“A regular restaurant to eat a good suckling pig with the family.
Friendly staff, well disposed with excellent service.
I recommend everyone who enjoys suckling pig and beyond (there are many other good things) to visit. Including the desserts, which are delicious too.
We will definitely be back.

“Tasty and traditional food, which makes us want to eat all afternoon, 5 stars! In addition, the entire team is extremely friendly and caring! If you're around S.Joao da Pesqueira you won't regret stopping at Adega da Ana and enjoying excellent local food!“

“Small local restaurant, with lots of local people and a relaxed atmosphere. We had a very good barbecue chicken. The house wine was good and very inexpensive. A meal for two for less than 20 euro - amazing. Friendly service, spoke sufficient English to explain the menu. Can be recommended for a nice dinner in Alijo.“
“This place is an absolute must! We were recommended by our tour guide from a Vineyard tour, she definitely didn’t steer us wrong! The food, the staff, the vibe, everything was perfect! Plus- it was super cheap compared what the price should have been! We met a couple from London in the waiting line that said they liked it so much that it was their second time eating there over the previous 3 days! We could see why after we finished our meal, so amazing!!!! Definitely a must to try!“

“We stayed at Quinta de la Rosa, where the restaurant is located, and we ate dinner and breakfast. It was really delicious and very tasty. Beautifully decorated and served with good service. And the view! Absolutely fantastic. We chose VTG white wine Reserva, which was significantly better than the local wine.
Dietary restrictions: There are vegetarian dishes and the waiter asked about allergies.
Wheelchair accessibility: There is a lift and parking close by.“

“Very good food and generous portion, however the young guy is not really friendly and appears to be rude. Anyway, the rest of the senior staffs are really nice guys and I really appreciate them.
Love the town, nice ambience.“

“Mixed feelings honestly - we actually thought the food was pretty tasty (aside from the desserts, which weren't on the same level), and we liked being able to choose each course on the prix-fixe menu. But for this price you're hoping for more than 'pretty tasty', while the service unfortunately was mostly just competent, and fairly impersonal tbh. We had much better, friendlier dining experiences pretty much everywhere else in Portugal. But here's the thing... the location IS stunning. That's mostly what you're paying for.“
“Must be the Welsh antenna for surely girls - lovely display of cakes and very clean with gorgeous views. We were pleased that any good cafe was open on a Sunday and especially pleased to see so many delicious cakes. The beautiful young lady looked in an extremely bad mood ? and really would have put us off staying there. The gentleman saved the day. We chose cakes and coffees and thoroughly enjoyed them. Other people then came in and went behind the counter and started to choose items and eat them ?“

“This is not only a restaurant, but a school of life. Have you ever eaten feijoada from a ceramic dish wordlessly over a carafe of red wine with an old friend? These patrons with whom we shared a dining room one sleepy weekday morning showed me what a luncheon could be. Roll up your shirt sleeves, perch your spoon on your index finger, and explore these unpretentious delights.“

“Tanya atanasova really sorry for any inconvenience but first of all you have the menu when you walked in the restaurant and you can see there is no wine list there.
You asked for a glass of wine and I said it couldn’t be possível only for drinks after you asked for a bottle of wine I carry on saying no because it’s a restaurant and is only for food and after of everything you asked me to eat so I said yes it’s possível.
You sat outside with the menus on the table and 2 minutes later you walked away so not our fault.
It’s funny how people can describe arguments without saying all the truth.
You’re always welcome to “have food” not drinks only for that you have the bar downstairs many thanks.“
“Definately the best restaurant on the Island Flores. Not only the food is great but the location with the view from the garden over the ocean is breath taking! Here you can see beatiful sun sets. We had diner twice and all was delicious. The limpets, grilled fish, lamb, sea weed pie, beef, peanut ice cream, everything was delicious, home made, I guess the veggies from the garden of the owners. The owners are very kind and work hard and create a very relaxed admosphere as well. We even got a welcome wine and honey liquor since we stayed in their traditional holliday house for about a week. Can highly reccoment this restaurant. It's best to make a reservation since the place is not too big but if fully booked for lunch or diner, just go there for a drink and enjoy the beautiful view in the garden!“
“Exquisite, exceptional service, very beautiful atmosphere. They have vegetarian options, to know them you must consult with the waiter, I recommend the doughs, for the value the portions are huge and the sauce is exquisite. They are very large portions so I recommend going hungry.
Vegetarian options: You must consult with the waiter.“

“Traditional Portuguese food very tasty and well prepared. We went on tripe day. For those who like this dish from the North of the country, they were prepared in an exceptional way. They took me back to my childhood, to the flavors of the "double" made by my grandmother Violante. The women in my life (wife and daughters) preferred the mixed grill. It was made with very good meats, all very well grilled. The price is very good for the good quality of the food.It is worth trying when passing through Sanfins do Douro!“
