We arrived and it all looked very splendid, the door was locked which should have been a red flag, but ringing the bell we got in an wee then frog marched through our meal. The food was ok , great wine but the folded arms and constant walks past our table to hurry us up was horrid

We went here with high expectations, looking forward to splashing out on our holiday. We arrived at the door (which was locked) and were greeted by a waitress who requested we check the menu before we entered. This was a bit confusing (as gen z we obviously had checked the menu online before hand) and we assured her we were happy, but she insisted we check. We are unsure what this was about, but we guessed maybe she thought we couldn’t afford the overpriced dishes on this menu. Once we sat down, we realised the atmosphere was non-existent, though the room itself was gorgeous, the waiting staff seemed inexperienced, inflexible and nervous- the woman who let us in also paced continuously which added to the strangeness. One of us is a coeliac and the other is vegetarian, which we understand can be troubling- however, we are patient and friendly and willing to be flexible. The waiter serving us didn’t seem to pass on the vegetarian request of substituting meat for cheese, so the meals which arrived (two starters as only one main is vegetarian) were heavily lacking in substance. It was obvious that the meat elements had been removed and not replaced at all. The coeliac meat eater was pleased that the octopus was gluten free, however the meal was small, unbalanced and dry (who wants four roasties with no sauce or anything?!) having said that, the green beans were divine! And I was very glad to have tried the octopus which was so cool!!!OverallBad/cold/weird serviceOkay food (for the money)I think you’d be better off going somewhere else guys xoxox

Hey, we were there on Wednesday, March 27. They treated us wonderfully, we mentioned that one of us had to eat gluten-free and lactose-free, they behaved great and like ordering a starter that will avoid both things, they brought me a special piece of buckwheat bread toast, while my partner ate the first course .The attention of the two people who run the dining room is wonderful. At all times they spoke to us in Spanish or Portuguese so that we could understand each other.Very obrigada

Please do visit A Raposa when in Sintra. The exquisite dining room is matched only by the tasty food. Don’t forget dessert! We had the chocolate caramel gateau with ice cream….heavenly

A Riposa was a lovely place for a sit down dinner. The building itself appears to be quite old and features a painted ceiling. Be forewarned if you come in winter: the heating leaves something to be desired. However, the warmth of the staff more than makes up for the chilly room. As far as food goes, by party got the salmon risotto, the octopus, and the squid ink risotto. Everyone loved their dish. I got the pork risotto and felt the meat was a little dry, but the risotto itself was terrific. I would recommend dining here.

Such an amazing experience! After a long day of walking, crowds and queues, this place was like being served a home cooked meal. Food was amazing, the dining room was stunning and totally unique and the owners were so lovely. Highly recommend.

We selected A Raposa for dinner largely because it was the closest restaurant to our hotel & it was pouring rain outside. We were not particularly looking for a fine-dining or "romantic" restaurant; if a more casual restaurant with a reputation for good food had been closeby and open, we likely would have selected it. But no matter ... The food was not on the "Michelin" caliber that some TA reviewers report, but it was generally good. In addition to the "couvert," I started with the Pixto a Raposa, which were delicious. As I recall, my husband ordered the soup, which he found to be acceptable but not outstanding. For main courses, he had the Squid Risotte, which he enjoyed quite a bit; I had the grilled salmon, which I barely remember -- meaning that it could not have been either terrible or wonderful. For dessert, he opted for the flan and I the apple pie with ice cream -- both of which satisfied our sweet tooth. Service was courteous, if a bit slow -- which was understandable as there was only one server in the front of the house and there appeared to be just a single cook in the small kitchen (which is visible from the dining room). We were in no hurry, so we were fine with the pace of the dining.

Service is excellent. Absolutely cannot fault the lovely staff.Food is honestly just okay (I’d say below average for Sintra standard). But the price was above average. Presentation of food was good but the taste sadly did not match up to the view. Potato with the fish was hard. The pork part of the pork risotto we ordered was dry and not tender. We wanted to like it as a fancier dinning spot but in the end was disappointed. The atmosphere was nice though.

Cute space . Mediocre uninteresting food. Same undercooked bland potatoes with every dish we ordered. Good wine . Ok service. A little pretentious.Vegetarian options: One vegetarian option

If you want a fine dine experience and excellent service, this is the place for you! Found by chance but repeatedly was overwhelmed by amazing dishes, exquisite taste and fantastic Portugal wines and deserts. It’s cosy and warm space with absolute attention to details and equally perfect service! Do visit and enjoy your evening!I’ve tried number of dishes, octopus, bacalao (cod) and pork. Never went wrong and each time it was better and better.
