A perfect welcome, good service and good and copious food, like our grandmothers did, it's almost too much but for good eaters OK... you can go there with your eyes closed.

Amazing food at good prices, almost eats two with one plate. The chicken strobonoff, knuckle and cheeks are incredible. Very friendly staff. Highly recommended

Very warm restaurant with friendly staff, lots of choice on the menu and a very interesting tourist menu at 22 euros!

We were great, super fast service.
They have starters on the table that you only pay for if you consume them.
The person who served us made an effort to speak in our language and was very friendly and gave us great advice.
The dishes were very abundant, the best value for money.
We ate octopus (one of the best I've tried) and a knuckle with roasted chestnuts that doesn't matter what I tell you, you have to try it!
We loved it

A warm welcome. The dishes are plentiful and well priced. The manager is great and the boss speaks French (with a lot of humor). The town around is nice, I highly recommend it.

[Feb-2023] Very pleasant restaurant with friendly staff. The appetizers were great, especially the cheese. I asked for a Chateaubriand for 2 people. Loved how the meat was cooked (medium rare). The side dish had fried potatoes, roasted tomato and "esparregado". The tomato was a bit salty and the "esparregado" missed the taste of turnip a bit. The chocolate mousse was excellent, a bit bitter, how I like ?

Went for Sunday lunch. The place was packed to the rafters. Very local feel and vibe. Quaint and traditional! The menu had many classics of Europe, but we stuck to Portuguese cuisine. We ordered the pork leg with chestnut and the granny's beef stew. Both the plates came with potatoes on the side. To drink, we ordered water and house wine! The plates were humongous, and there was no room for dessert. Finished with a cafe. Overall a great lunch experience! Sat for 3 hours plus!

Stopped here for lunch after Pena Palace, after trying to wade thru the options and deciding which reviews were trust worthy. They do provide the 'appetizers' that everything you touch/eat you will be charged for but they were forthcoming about that so that was nice to see. The service was good, the views are okay. The food and wine however, have a lot to be desired. The jug of wine was very thin, no flavor, would not recommend. It is quite large , easily get 8-10 glasses or more out of it. We had a wide assortment of dishes, pork with mushrooms, pork with red wine sauce, vegetarian dishes, the cod. Everything was not very appetizing. The pork with red wine sauce specifically had a barnyard taste to it, it was very unpleasant. The french fries were good and crispy, they had a squeeze bottle of ketchup which was a first that we've encountered and appreciated. The meal overall was a let down. Would not recommend.
