“High class restaurant from Rui Paula. Not sure what criteria this is missing to not have a star in the red book, but special things happen here.
Somellier is knowledgeable and engaging. Wines run the full spectrum from affordable to hilarious, and everything in between. Good selection by the glass as well including some special ones by the corovin, which is a nice way to splash out a bit without remortgaging or contacting a broker.
Beautiful view right on the river. This is the absolute definition from the guide of worth a special visit.“

“Very nice food ?, I loved ? the sirloin steak it was very good. Also the grilled tuna ? was nice and a yummy Caprese salad ? with it. The staff were very friendly. But the best part of it was the dessert ?? I had the coconut pannacota ? and the others had a lemon pie??. It was deeeelicous! I would love to come back again! Thats why it deserves 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐+1 ??“
“For the third time and it does not disappoint.
Perhaps they would propose a greater variety of wines to further enhance their very good cuisine.
Prior reservation required.
I recommend experience, still very genuine, with personality.
It's a food house, don't expect a restaurant.
Pets not allowed and I don't usually go to these types of establishments. In this case I made an exception, but please reconsider because their behavior is usually better than that of some children.“

“We reserved a table at "1896" during our vacation to celebrate our engagement. The Google reviews about this restaurant and also the recommendations we received locally for the "1896" are really no exaggeration. We enjoyed a wonderful evening with exquisite cuisine (classic 3-course menu) and excellent and very attentive service. Many thanks for the wonderful evening to the whole team at "1896".“

“Some of the most amazing Portuguese I’ve had. We were a big group sharing two sirloin steaks, the salmon and mango dish, beans, rice and potatoes. All the flavours combined delightfully and all the meat and local veg are produced organically within the valley. Great place for a casual dinner and a great homely vibe.“

“Well prepared, typically Portuguese regional cuisine. Good wine list.
Well located space with an extraordinary view over the Douro
Friendly and efficient service.
Very popular on weekends, which leads to the exhaustion of several options on the menu, which are not very extensive,
Parking: Free own parking and plenty of space nearby
Kid-friendliness: Very spacious both inside and outside.“
“A tasty five-course meal with generous house wine, grappa and port, topped off with a brief cultural tour.
A cheese & bread starter was followed by seafood empadas, carrot soup and a meat stew, then a mix of Portuguese desserts, including an egg custard, poached pear and chocolate cake.
There was a short history of the vineyard and a little bit of time to walk around the beautiful gardens with excellent fountains and views over the vineyards.“

“The restaurant offers typical Portuguese dishes at a very good price/performance ratio. We had the Armamar pizza and a Francesinha toast.
The portions are large and the food is impeccable. Paying by card is no problem. (Debit/credit, e.g. Visa)
I can only recommend! Yesterday, Mother's Day, it was a little more crowded, but it was still nice!
Vegetarian options: Some pizzas are vegetarian, a margarita should also be possible.
Parking: Right in front of the restaurant on the street.
Kid-friendliness: There are high chairs. Children's portion should also be possible.“
“Great place to have an authentic meal at a tremendous price. Be forewarned though, go hungry and don’t plan on eating anything other than a snack for supper. It cost 22 euros and it was well worth every cent. It’s a set menu so just enjoy yourself and watch the dishes arrive. Wine and port are included. So is dessert and coffee.“

“We went in by chance because it was one of the few that was open, and how lucky we were because we repeated the next day. Good food, generous portions and very friendly staff. To highlight the cod with crumbs, the tuna salad with feijao fradinho, and for dessert, the bolo da regiao, spectacular“

“A typical Portuguese restaurant but with a touch of refinement and extra flavor. A great gastronomic experience to try in Alijó. We ordered the house steak and pork cheeks and everything was wonderful and full of flavor. The meat was tender and juicy. The mushroom soup is delicious! For dessert, a tasty chocolate mousse, a canilla de leche cream with ice cream and an excellent olive oil pudding. I recommend trying them all. A pleasant experience to repeat.“
“Wonderful family restaurant with a true Portuguese atmosphere, it is that typical place that we are all looking for on a trip...charming family that serves you with closeness and affection and, in addition, serves you delicious homemade food at a very good price. Pay attention to that rice! It couldn't be more good.
Many thanks to Joaquin and his family???obrigada❤️“

“Quaint little family eatery. Got their set with garlic bread, veal and a water. They threw in a free glass of wine when they found out the country I'm from.Other tables also really enjoyed their meals and I would try to come back if I could to try more of their items“

“Passing through Moimenta da Beira as a pilgrim on the Camino Torres I had the pleasure of stopping in this place for lunch and dinner. I must say that I am fully satisfied with the treatment I received despite my poor command of Portuguese. I found attentive and friendly staff who made me feel at home. As for the food, I must say that I ate very well at reasonable prices. Would I recommend it? Absolutely.“

“I've had lunch at this restaurant several times and I've always enjoyed it, however, Thursday 6/6 was one of the times I didn't like it the most, the meat wasn't as usual and the potatoes on the grill were very dry and still half raw.“

“We stayed at Quinta de la Rosa, where the restaurant is located, and we ate dinner and breakfast. It was really delicious and very tasty. Beautifully decorated and served with good service. And the view! Absolutely fantastic. We chose VTG white wine Reserva, which was significantly better than the local wine.
Dietary restrictions: There are vegetarian dishes and the waiter asked about allergies.
Wheelchair accessibility: There is a lift and parking close by.“

After so much searching for a restaurant in Pinhão, we decided without a doubt on the best one!!Super pleasant atmosphere, not noisy, the staff are very professional and knowledgeable about the dishes and wine list. “Mixed feelings honestly - we actually thought the food was pretty tasty (aside from the desserts, which weren't on the same level), and we liked being able to choose each course on the prix-fixe menu. But for this price you're hoping for more than 'pretty tasty', while the service unfortunately was mostly just competent, and fairly impersonal tbh. We had much better, friendlier dining experiences pretty much everywhere else in Portugal. But here's the thing... the location IS stunning. That's mostly what you're paying for.“
“(Translated by Google) Excellent for take away and lunch. Very tasty food. Homemade style. Roast chicken at its best. Excellent service! “Must be the Welsh antenna for surely girls - lovely display of cakes and very clean with gorgeous views. We were pleased that any good cafe was open on a Sunday and especially pleased to see so many delicious cakes. The beautiful young lady looked in an extremely bad mood ? and really would have put us off staying there. The gentleman saved the day. We chose cakes and coffees and thoroughly enjoyed them. Other people then came in and went behind the counter and started to choose items and eat them ?“

“This is not only a restaurant, but a school of life. Have you ever eaten feijoada from a ceramic dish wordlessly over a carafe of red wine with an old friend? These patrons with whom we shared a dining room one sleepy weekday morning showed me what a luncheon could be. Roll up your shirt sleeves, perch your spoon on your index finger, and explore these unpretentious delights.“

“Tanya atanasova really sorry for any inconvenience but first of all you have the menu when you walked in the restaurant and you can see there is no wine list there.
You asked for a glass of wine and I said it couldn’t be possível only for drinks after you asked for a bottle of wine I carry on saying no because it’s a restaurant and is only for food and after of everything you asked me to eat so I said yes it’s possível.
You sat outside with the menus on the table and 2 minutes later you walked away so not our fault.
It’s funny how people can describe arguments without saying all the truth.
You’re always welcome to “have food” not drinks only for that you have the bar downstairs many thanks.“
“Exquisite, exceptional service, very beautiful atmosphere. They have vegetarian options, to know them you must consult with the waiter, I recommend the doughs, for the value the portions are huge and the sauce is exquisite. They are very large portions so I recommend going hungry.
Vegetarian options: You must consult with the waiter.“
“Very well-kept establishment, very good traditional Portuguese cuisine, everything and very clean, the owners are very pleasant. It may be missing a touch of color in the room to make the place warmer if not for the kitchen don't change anything everything is very good.
Wheelchair accessibility: Everything is level in the restaurant and the sidewalk is rather low“
